Seriously, the amount of the "I ain't racist honest but what's with all the brown people?" type posts over the last few days are starting to rankle a bit.

What's going on? :(

Well according to the thread started yesterday the problem is that we're all so middle class and pc on mumsnet that these things can't be discussed. Rather than the problem being poster starting threads with racist comments. Hmm

The one today is Eastern Europeon citizens.

I think that posters should keep the replies unpersonal and answer with intelligence and knowledge.

That generally shuts racist ranters up.

It's probably because of the census reports that were released yesterday that included data on ethnicity - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20667872 It shows that about one in eight residents was born outside the UK - cue the Daily Mail readers getting into a lather

It's been on the news on the telly, innit?

But I haven't recognised the name of one thread-starter yet.

One of the main headlines yesterday was that people who consider themselves 'white british' make up less than 50% of London's population. That's got people really worked up, but they don't seem to be really looking at the story behind it, just the kneejerk headline - Mark Easton says:

@BBCMarkEaston via Twitter
When you take London out of the figures, the % describing themselves as 'white British' in England and Wales is 87%. #2011census
