this morning I found a letter from a bank giving details of someone's credit card account. it included full name address and credit card number ah.d also had a date of birth written on it. it was lying on pavemej.t. I picked it up took it home and phoned bank to let them know so they could check there was no fraud / let customer who was in her 80s know.

their response was to say they would not discuss the matter except with customer ahs I should get her to phone them. they seemed to think it was a joke and I was wasting their time.

aibu to think it should have been treated as potentially serious?

Shock YANBU!

I can sort of understand why they refused to discuss it with you, but there must have been a department they could have put you through to, so they could take note of it and sort it out!
