OK, so it's not the most heinous crime in the book, but it does get a bit messy.

Actually I didn't get first to see if there was another thread like this. Blush

I've just seen two identical Aussie DJ threads next to each other.

Or, last week it was multiple royal pregnancy threads.

I dont think I have ever agreed with a thread more.

The last few weeks have got right on my last nerve.

I'm new, how does that work? Sorry if I'm appearing thick Blush

MardyBra · 10/12/2012 14:30

Welcome to MN BigShiny. If you click on Active, up on the top left of your screen, then you get all the active conversations going on at once in all the topics. Most (but not all) MNers use this as an easy way of joining in to whatever is current. If you go into Customise you can also hide certain topics from Active Convos.

Good advice mardy

It would also be good if posters looked through talk topics and familiarised themselves with subject headings, so Christmas stuff is in the Christmas topic, discussions on television programmes in telly addicts and celeb twaddle in celeb twaddle etc.

I don't hide subjects but it would make it easier for those that do.

MardyBra · 10/12/2012 17:27

yy to Christmas stuff in the Christmas topic.

My first AIBU where everyone has agreed with me I think. (So far)

i agree with you totally. sick of looking at threads about kate and the djs. im not clickimg on them but people dont even need to click on active convos to see there are already 2 threads about it on the first page of aibu. JUST STOP IT!! i think people consider their opinions are more important or valid than anyone elses so by posting their own thread they will get more attention

SauvignonBlanche · 10/12/2012 18:23

YANBU, I agree, it's really annoying.

AfterEightMintyy · 10/12/2012 18:26

Yanbu, and may I just say Mardy that this is an excellent example of a genuine aibu question ... congratulations Thanks.

Viviennemary · 10/12/2012 18:26

Well I think there are a lot more annoying things in life. And I am in one of my easily annoyed moods today. Grin

usualsocksprezzie · 10/12/2012 18:29

I think MNHQ should merge them into one thread.Lots of other forums merge threads.

scaevola · 10/12/2012 18:31

I've seen 5 threads about 'Threads I'm On' being broken.

If another appears, I think I might be sufficiently miffed to post something mildly intemperate.

I do really wish all Royal PG threads were in The Royal Family.

toomuchturkeyatendofthedinner · 10/12/2012 18:35

Yanbu.

TrillsCarolsOutOfTune · 10/12/2012 18:37

YANBUAA

(at all)

But some people don't seem to know that Active Convos exists. Or search. We should pity them, for they will never discover an amusing thread in an unexpected topic, they will only reside in AIBU and Chat.

MardyBra · 10/12/2012 23:33

And there are also the poor misguided souls who know about Active Convos but refuse to leave AIBU. Yes, I like the serendipity factor of Active, whilst hiding anything to do with camping, dogs and small children.

Thanks for the Thanks Mintyy.

totally unreasonable.
its a short life. can't spend it checking freds.

ChippingInAWinterWonderland · 11/12/2012 00:04

I think the problem is that the 'Active Convos' is about 15 minutes worth of posting (sometimes 10). So if someone last posted on it more than about 15 minutes ago it would have 'fallen off' the bottom.

Also, quite often if you look at the orignal posting times they are within 5 minutes of each other - people thinking the same thing.

It's annoying, but will happen due to the size of the site.

MardyBra · 11/12/2012 16:35

If it's a hot topic like the Aussie DJs or the royal pregnancy announcement, it will either be on the first page of AIBU or active imo.

There's yet another Aussie DJ thread now.

OP posts:
greenhill · 11/12/2012 17:09

I've customised to 100 threads in 'active conversations' and it only goes back 15 minutes. I also use unlimited posts on 'threads I'm on' so I don't lose anything before I refresh, in case the thread goes pfft.
