To want husband to invest in business

I started a business 8 months ago. Until last week I was unable to take a salary from it, but as our cash flow has now gone + can take £75 a week, and cash in bank still goes up by £1000 a month.

My husband does not work and living on just tax credits alone was horribly tough, but now the business is taking off things are getting better but money is very tight.

My husband had an accident last year and has just been notified he will get £3000 compo.

I have asked him to put some in the business and he has said no way. In fact out of it he is only giving me £60-and that is my Christmas present.

He has just gone out to spend a lot of cash on a plastic Christmas tree! This money could have gone on employing another member of staff to grow the business quicker.

He has previously invested £2000, but I thought he would let me have some.

Has he got any other ideas for the money?

squeakytoy · 10/12/2012 23:52

is he still unable to work due to the accident?

CurrentBun · 10/12/2012 23:55

Does he take your business seriously or see it as a paying hobby you'll soon get bored of perhaps?

UnrequitedSkink · 10/12/2012 23:57

Is he living on your 'wages'?

£3000 wouldn't pay for a member of staff.

Do you have a set of accounts, p+l, etc?

Cash in bank going up by £1000 a month doesn't mean you are making money. What are your actual profits, and what are your projections?

No answers? In the words of Dragon's Den - I'm out.

I guess this depends on your business plan, your projections, growth potential, etc.

What exactly would he invest in? How do you need another member of staff if you only make £1000 per month? Out of these 1000, is 300 all you have left, ie you spend the other 700? How will another member of staff grow the business quicker?

What returns can you expect that he sees on 5k invested over an 8 month period?
