I live in an area where chuggers/salespeople etc cold call door frequently. I was getting about two per day which was driving me mad with two dc to look after,so I put a polite sign up by the door bell saying 'no cold callers'.

It has been great, except I still get about one per week who thinks they are exempt (the sign is very visible). It is very annoying and often I have to disrupt putting ds for a nap/getting lunch etc to answer the door as I assume its a delivery.

Wibu to take the details of all future callers and complain to their company/charity/trading standards?

or as they've ignored my sign, should I 'miss' the doorbell and accidentally happen to throw a bucket of water out the door at the time they call

YWBU to complain, because it would take up more of your time and leave you irrationally angry. YWBU to chuck water at them too, no-one does door-to-door because they love it.

(Apart from missionaries, perhaps.)

I can see it's annoying, though.

Thanks, the second option was a joke Grin

Here's what to do when the doorbell rings:

Doorbell: Ding Dong!
Twinkling opens upstairs window, addresses caller thusly:

Twinkling: "Are you making a delivery?"
Cold caller: "No"

Twinkling shuts window without further ado. Cold caller eventually exits (hopefully also pursued by a bear)
