to ask if you can search your bank statements online ?

I'm trying to search what payments I've made to a particular company in the last couple of years. I was expecting to be able to just search on their name; but not so, just have to trawl back month by month.Hmm

I'm with HSBC .
Do you bank with someone who offers online statement search ?

I would have to trawl through all mine. Have you tried calling, they may be able to do it on their computer system.

cumfy · 05/12/2012 13:39

Could call them, but I was just really surprised to find that there wasn't a search facility.

Is this still normal ?

What do you mean by a search facility.

Do you mean a search for payments by entering a payee's name?

forevergreek · 05/12/2012 13:46

You can search by month or date on mine. Do you know the rough month at least?

cheekybaubles · 05/12/2012 13:51

Can't understand why you can't access your past payments?

Have you gone into the section where you set up payments and clicked on recipients already set up?

I have a few friends that work for that bank if you want me to ask them for you?

cumfy · 05/12/2012 13:56

Yes Randall, just want to type eg. "amazon", "waitrose" and get an ordered list of all payments to them in last 6 months, year.

fuzzywuzzy · 05/12/2012 13:56

I can search mine by word or date, but only three months at a time. I would be seriously ticked off if I couldn't.

cumfy · 05/12/2012 13:57

Cheeky, I can go through my statements month by month.

OP posts:
cumfy · 05/12/2012 13:58

Fuzzy which bank are you with ?

cheekybaubles · 05/12/2012 14:01

Yes, but what happens when you go into the section where you set up a recipient or standing order? Do you not get a list of companies and people?

SquirtedFrankinScentsInStable · 05/12/2012 14:06

download them into excel and search there.

cumfy · 05/12/2012 14:07

Cheeky, it's not a standing order.

GoldQuintessenceAndMyhrr · 05/12/2012 14:08

Ah, DnbNor in Norway are great, you can search for Payees, time period, everything.

cumfy · 05/12/2012 14:09

Squirted, is that definitely available with HSBC ?

OP posts:
spoonsspoonsspoons · 05/12/2012 14:10

emma123456 · 05/12/2012 16:19

Can download into a csv file, save jn excel and search away! You can definitely do this with HSBC.

ChocHobNob · 05/12/2012 16:23

Yes, on Natwest, although they've recently changed their site and I found it more difficult to find the facility.

TeamBacon · 05/12/2012 16:30

Yes I can, for the last 10 years. Was v useful when looking up credit card payments for a PPI claim.

fuzzywuzzy · 07/12/2012 09:27

cumfy I bank with Lloyds tsb

InsertCleverNameChangeHere · 07/12/2012 09:44

DP has this facility with Ulster Bank, I believe all divisions of RBS use the same online system so perhaps that would be a good option for you

Jins · 07/12/2012 10:05

I don't think you can with HSBC but I think you can download transactions in spreadsheet format and sort them from there

zoobaby · 07/12/2012 13:49

HSBC lets you download the PDF file. Just do a word search in the files (one by one alas). Usually it's on the toolbar at the top or press CTRL+F to get the dialogue box up. Or maybe the new-fandangled search facility in Windows 7 might find it for you?
