To use men's deodorant instead of women's?

I am of a certain age(47)and am having copious bloody hot flushes ALL the time lately. The only deodorant I like really is the stick-type one....Dove do a really nice one and the Mitchum one is good but its really expensive and they dont last very long. I hate the sprays and the roll-ons take too long to dry and feel sticky and icky.
So,when shopping a few days ago, I noticed that the lynx stick-type ones are much cheaper and are much bigger in sizeXmas Shock. I bought one and have been using it with satisfactory results since friday.
My question is this-is it ok to continue using mens deod.or is it possible they use stronger/more harmful chemicals in the mens ones?
I must say I quite like the smell of the mens ones actuallyXmas Grin.

I use my dh deodorant if im having a sweaty time of it usually during my period but i am also starting to get flushes, it doesnt smell of much really

NolittleBuddahsorTigerMomshere · 04/12/2012 15:49

I like it better than women's TBH

MoreBeta · 04/12/2012 15:57

DW use my Sure for Men because she gets headaches and feels dizzy if she smells perfume.

This particular version of Sure doesnt smell of anything - it just stops you smelling.

borisjohnsonshair · 04/12/2012 16:02

All women's deodorants smell bleurgghh apart from Dove. Really don't like flowery smells, so I always use the men's Sure ones. Also really object to having pink or pale green or pale blue bottles; I'm really not a pastels girl.

I often use dh's deodorant. When we go away on hols I don't take my own - just share his.

i bought a lynx stick today, but not africa. they didn't have that. it's just called lynx dry. will have to go to boots.

petitfiloser · 07/12/2012 20:25

no you will smell like a man Grin

ChristmasEvie · 08/12/2012 22:31

Mu1berryI actually like all the lynx ones-much prefer the manly smellXmas Hmm.
petit dont mind ,honestXmas Grin.

GinSoakedMu1berryLush · 09/12/2012 21:18

yeh same here, the 'manly' smell :p doesn't put me off. the one i have is called lynx dry and it is slightly coconutty but not in a malibu way. a masculine coconut but it's not a strong smell. I like it. and it's less than half the price of the bionsen one i have been using, so I don't know why i never thought of trying the men's stick deoderants before.

GinSoakedMu1berryLush · 09/12/2012 21:19

i want another one though, i want a whole collection. I want Africa like the OP and I won't relax til I buy it. :-)

I do anyway, Old Spice smells nice Smile I've stopped shaving "under there" and the dryness of it just feels nicer. Haven't used sickly sticky roll ons for ages now.

valiumredhead · 11/12/2012 08:33

I'm testing out Lynx stick today -can't remember what it's clued but a nice citrus smell ( pinched it from ds!) will report back later. I usually use Mitchum but it has stopped working.

GinSoakedMu1berryLush · 11/12/2012 12:43

haven't managed to get hold of it yet, but the lynx dry is not a masculine smell. it's unscented, virtually. I am after AFRICA!! I will try boots next time i'm on the high street. my local tesco doesn't have it.

Teapot13 · 11/12/2012 12:57

I tried this about 20 years ago -- before there were all these invisible women's deodorants available. I found the men's deodorant made my skin peel and was not as gentle on broken skin (from shaving). If this hasn't happened to you I wouldn't worry about it though.

GinSoakedMu1berryLush · 11/12/2012 12:58

i'll stick with the bionsen one for the day i shave I think.

Jinglegirl · 11/12/2012 13:04

Dont know about the shaving issue yet-am saving myself for a big shave-off just before ChristmasXmas Grin.

I'm really impressed with it so far - just had a sniff and no nasty whiffs at all Grin

Deodorant is deodorant. Whether or not they are "men's" or "women's" is down to marketing.
