not to decorate inside and outside the house?

I live alone now that my DH has died. We have a 6ft high tree and many years worth of wall, ceiling and tree decorations including four sets of lights.

I'm going away for Christmas so what's the point? Is there one? I'd like to do it, I suppose, but I just feel that too much effort is needed.

If I were to have visitos, I expect I would get a few out but not the whole hog.

Am I being lazy? Or just can't be bothered?

Sorry for your loss.

If you'd like to do it then YABU to not bother with a tree/indoor decs. Who knows if anyone will drop in, and it's cosy on the dark winter evenings. YANBU to not bother with the outside -it's far too cold for that malarky, fairy lights inside a window should suffice Xmas Smile happy Christmas!

Sorry for your loss, do what you want to if you want to put up the tree and decorations then do it, if not don't worry.

Don't ask us. Ask God!

I think you'll find that She's very relaxed about people foregoing pagan rituals at Christmas. I happen to know that she uses M&S pre-prepared bread sauce for Christmas lunch.

My family used to go away at Christmas often, and we wouldn't have a tree then. Mum used to put up a few token decorations on the big yukka plant instead.

If you'd like to do it, do as much as you'd like to do.

If you can't be arsed, buy a bottle of Baileys and a box of mince pies and put the fire on when visitors come Grin

Thanks

My mum has now moved to a bungalow and normally decorates her mantelpiece area to form a framework for her Christmas cards. She says she doesn't miss sweeping up pine needles one little bit Xmas Smile

This year we are going on holiday from 14th to 21st Dec then going to SIL for Christmas lunch. No-one is coming here at any point. Because of this we are putting up one modest artificial tree and not doing any outside lights. You do what suits. It's your Christmas.

lovebunny · 02/12/2012 19:57

some years i don't even have a tree. it doesn't matter. do it your own way. Xmas Smile

SomeTiggyPudding · 02/12/2012 20:47

I'd put up something so it looks like you're home.
