To want to hide one of DH's jumpers?!!

DH was bought a particularly hideous cardigan by his mother about 18 months ago. Think baggy, ill-fitting, velour on the outside from M&S. After a few washes he conceded that it was no longer a comfy cardi (shudder) but, well, all of the aforementioned things. It ended up in the bin, much to my delight. So today MIL arrives with a brand new version of the same cardy. DH was at work so doesn't know ... AIBU to donate it to the nearest recycling bin?!!

Does it still have the labels? Exchange it if so. If not, then yanbu to donate it

YABU

It is a gift to him, so he should decide what happens to it.

As Boney says it's a gift to him so he should decide...

However a little reminder just how little wear he got out of the last one and where it ended up wouldn't go amiss. Then suggest changing it for something less fugly longlasting.

I'd get him to let you exchange it if it's not going to last really well.

I thought this was going to be a thread about those awful Christmas theme sweaters and was going to tell you to bin it Grin

Go and exchange it. Tell MIL that the last one didn't last well, that you were really disappointed, expected better of M&S, knew she'd be mortified if the same happened to this gift so you swapped it to save her blushes and that you knew she'd rather you swap it than give her DS a potentially crappy gift.

Tell DH that you swapped it because of the problems with the previous one and wanted to avoid him having to tell his DM she'd bought him another duff jumper and you knew he'd be happier knowing his DM had not wasted her money on poor quality.

All done with the best of possible intentions!Grin
