So I can at least be up, have brushed my teeth, not have a towel/dressing gown/pj's on ad not have boobs out? Basically so I can open te door and invite someone in without bein mortified at the state of me and the house.
If IABU fine but I've always called/text before visits and thought the same applied to people coming round especially as we have a 6mo so for a long time boob out/unbrushed teeth etc were the norm.

YANBU. I hate random callers. I am never presentable unless I have to be.

FestiveDigestive · 01/12/2012 13:54

I dislike random, "I was just passing" callers. I don't do it to other people.

SecretNutellaFix · 01/12/2012 13:55

in this day and age there should be no need for "popping around"

bonzo77 · 01/12/2012 14:27

YANBU. I wish delivery drivers and cold callers would call first so i could tell them to fuck off too.

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 01/12/2012 14:27

We have a land line, 2 mobiles and Internet connection so there really isn't any need for anyone to be 'unannounced' in my opinion. I find it quite rude and I really don't like it but have been told by the inlaws im the rude one for not letting them just stop by as and when Hmm

I guess YANBU.... but then I'm use to people popping in unannounced and it doesn't both me at all and I would do if I was back home.

That said since moving down south I have had to teach myself to phone people to see if they are in and I'm in the area.

Theicingontop · 01/12/2012 14:42

My house is always disheveled unless I'm expecting someone Blush

I always seem to have someone popping in and unless they've warned told me first, I'm whizzing round picking clothes off the sofa and chucking cups in the sink, hoping they don't notice DS's breakfast crumbs still on the table.

YANBU, it's really annoying!

tethersend · 01/12/2012 14:52

The thought of it makes my blood run cold.

Every time we tidy up, DD asks "Who's coming round?" Grin

SoniaGluck · 01/12/2012 14:58

I usually get: " Is grandma coming? "

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 01/12/2012 15:06

I cannot abide it. I have ignored the door on occasion. Its that or feel the need to explain why my breasts have migrated south.

ImperialSantaKnickers · 01/12/2012 15:09

I don't mind people calling by if they don't mind being told to go away if the place is a pigsty I'm not feeling like being visited.

DameFanny · 01/12/2012 15:32

Got be honest, depends on how much I like the caller. Friends, lovely. ILs not so much.

elvisaintdead · 01/12/2012 15:38

I don't like unannounced callers but I do feel as though Iab a bit u in feeling that way because really it's nice people want to pop in and say hi. But I can be a bit unsociable sometimes so although I do smile nd invite them in I can't help feeling a bit grrrrrrrrrr about it!

So yab a bit u, the same as me!

TheArmadillo · 01/12/2012 15:44

In general I hate unannounced callers.
The only exception I make is PIL because I know they won't judge me if the place is a mess and the kids are always so pleased to see them. Also they don't expect us to drop everything - so they will watch the kids while I finish off what I was doing.

First thing I do in a morning is get showered/dressed - only if I'm ill I wouldn't and then I wouldn't care. Plus they have been on holiday with us enough for it not to be a shock Grin

I don't mind random visitors and if they don't like if there are crumbs or dishes then they shouldn't call round.
I've had my friend here every morning at 6am as she is getting a lift to work with dh. She's seen me and the house in various states Grin
