To think if I've made it to day 5 and still feel great I've skipped the baby blues?

I had the blues for a few weeks after DS1 and had come to believe they are inevitable with hormones flooding out of you etc..
Now 5 days PP with DS2 and feel kind of high actually. Deeply relieved birth went well (ELCS- was terrified), besotted with DS2, healing faster than last time. I've just got lucky haven't I? My nipples are shredded though so that ought to satisfy the karma gods

They're not inevitable, I never had the baby blues with either of my DC.

ScaryHairyMcSweary · 23/11/2012 21:20

I never had then with either of my dd's, so maybe you are in the clear.

well, my baby blues was day 7.... but really only for a few hours. so you might be lucky and not get them, but if you do, there's a good chance it will only be for a wee while.

congratulations on your new baby!

My blues with ds1 came at day 5 and lasted for about three days, with ds2 it was the same, came at day 5 and lasted the afternoon. I feel very, very lucky that I got off so lightly both times.

It kicked in for me on day 4 after my EMCS with DC1.

Never got it after my planned CS with DC2. I was all geared up for it....... and nothing happened.

baby blues are just your hormones settling back down. You may or may not get them, you may adjust with no adverse effects.

Congrats OP :)

Just look after yourself so you don't hit the wall trying to be super mum :). I'd lay it on a bit thick with visitors still.... :)

Best not get cocky then! Whatever happens I'll be grateful it's not a repeat of my first birthSmile

Hopefully not.

ToffeeCaramel · 23/11/2012 21:33

Sorry, I mean hopefully you have skipped the baby blues!

Baby blues with DD was at day 3 - my mum and dad took me into the town centre and I was in floods of tears in Costa and that feeling lasted for days. With DS, my knee ligaments ruptured when he was 2 days old. I was on crutches, high dose of morphine and still in pain from birth, but the blues didn't seem to hit me. I did have random emotional moments, but that was it. There was an element of overdoing it with DS, but I didn't have time to worry and think about it - we just had to get through the days. Look after yourself and get plenty of rest when you can.

Congratulations, by the way Thanks

Mine kicked in after a week. Was on a high before then thinking I had skipped the blues.
