Completely can't believe what I saw earlier whilst sat in the bus stop, bloke came across with his 2 kids (primary school age) and says "wait here I will be back in 2 mins," then walks up to the off licence and came back with a can of lager, which he proceeded to drink on the bus. Whilst his two children ran unchecked around the bus. It really upset me to see how some people treat their children. If you can't wait till your kids are in bed before you crack out the alcohol, you have got a serious problem, if you do it on the bus out in public with your kids with you, you are sick in the head as far as I am concerned. Rant over.

This is basically a copy of what I just put on my FB status, I was so shocked (but I do live in an area where you see people passing your window swigging on a bottle of stella artois at 8 in the morning, but to do it when you are in charge of young children beggars belief!

I want to add that I am currently 4 months pregnant and a tad emotional and hormonal at the best of times, so I might be overreacting. I'm just so thankful for my DP as he would never ever consider doing that!

I don't think you are being judgemental, it wasn't a glass of wine with lunch, it was leaving kids to buy drink to have on the bus!

I believe it isn't legal to drink in the street/bus etc where I live too.

Nice example for the kids Hmm

I know someone who has a beer first thing in the morning. He doesn't want to. He hates the taste, he hates that he needs it.

The day he didn't have a drink he was hospitalised because he had a fit.

He is currently waiting for a detox.

You have no idea of that person's situation.

If you did, then you can judge.

He sounds as rough as and doesn't control his children. I'd judge. And then feel a bit twattish.

Being tipsy on a bus every now and then is fine, with or without children, as long as you're still in control.

Sitting in a park getting slightly sloshed on fizz is fine. Wandering about with a can of Tennants is not. I have no problem seeing that the two are different.

Situation doesn't sound ideal. However all of the hysterics about 'waiting until DCs are in bed to drink' is very silly.

A beer at lunch with friends at the weekend, a glass of wind with dinner are not Bad Things that need to be hidden from DCs.
