DH convinced it is a boy's name but I have never known a boy named this, only girls. AIBU to name my daughter Logan?

It was the name of Rory's boyfriend in Gilmore Girls.
Though Rory is a girl.

FunnysInLaJardin · 20/11/2012 20:34

I know a boy Logan and would have thought of it as a boys name.

freddiefrog · 20/11/2012 20:55

I know 2 Logans. Both boys

Never heard it used for a girl

apostropheuse · 20/11/2012 21:02

Logan is a Scottish surname, as others have said.

However, It's been used as a first name for years - I know of someone in his sixties with that as a name. I've also never heard of it being used for a girl.

BeauNeidel · 20/11/2012 21:04

It's a boys name. You are wrong sorry! Grin

Moominsarescary · 20/11/2012 21:06

Boys name I'd say

FryOneFatManic · 20/11/2012 21:07

DP is a great uncle to a boy called Logan.

Groovee · 20/11/2012 21:09

Very popular in Scotland where it is definitely a boy's name.

My best friend's dog is called Logan and he is a boy too.

gobbledegook1 · 20/11/2012 21:19

Definitely a male name. Only ever know it as a male name and is my son's name.

TraineeBabyCatcher · 20/11/2012 21:20

Only every heard it as a boys name.

I guess its one of those names that its sounds like the sex you have always related it to. Throughout my childhood, I only met 1 Tony, he was male, so to me that was (is) a male name. Yet as an adult I know 3 female Toni's and no male Tony's. But I still here Tony/i being spoken and first think of a male.

Definitely a boys name. I suggested this as a possible boys name to DH, but he said that we were not naming our son after Wolverine.

Very detailed wikipedia article about the popular comic book character Wolverine

M0naLisa · 20/11/2012 21:29

I thought boys name

borisjohnsonshair · 20/11/2012 21:32

It's a surname, not a first name. Please don't do it, it's horrible.

redlac · 20/11/2012 21:35

It's very much a first name up here in Scotland! As well as a surname and a dogs name :)

dumbelina · 20/11/2012 21:35

I must be the only person here who knows of a little girl called Logan, it really suits her and I have always thought of it as a unisex name.

Myliferocks · 20/11/2012 21:37

Another one here who knows a boy called Logan.
