DH convinced it is a boy's name but I have never known a boy named this, only girls. AIBU to name my daughter Logan?

KatyPeril · 20/11/2012 19:25

Only ever known it on boys.

Tamisara · 20/11/2012 19:25

Srira I would pay to see someone with that gift Wink

expatinscotland · 20/11/2012 19:25

It's a boys name.

SpookTheCat · 20/11/2012 19:26

The only Logan's i have heard of are boys, never heard it being used as a girls name.

Hulababy · 20/11/2012 19:26

I have only known of one child with the name - he is a boy.

MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour · 20/11/2012 19:26

I've only heard of it as a boys name

oldraver · 20/11/2012 19:26

Yes one of DS's class mates has a brother called Logan.... though I've only ever heard it said LOGAAAAANNNNN

Frawli · 20/11/2012 19:28

I know boys called Logan, but never met a girl called by that name

BlueGuinefort · 20/11/2012 19:28

I would say it is a boy's name, but there is a girl in DD's year group called Logan (reception).

hugoagogo · 20/11/2012 19:30

It's usually a boys name.

FatimaLovesBread · 20/11/2012 19:30

In Scotland it's the 4th most popular boys name
So I suppose if you wanted to use it for a girl, there wouldn't be many other girls with the same name

Nat38 · 20/11/2012 19:31

I have 2 cousins who have each named one of their DC Logan-one is a boy & one is a girl!

EchoBitch · 20/11/2012 19:31

I thought it was a surname.

SamuelWestsMistress · 20/11/2012 19:32

I always thought it was a boys name but have since discovered probably as many girls with it too. Seems to be very common up here in Scotlant too.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned Gilmour Girls yet! Logan is Rory's posh blond boyfriend! Oh wait the main character is a girl called Rory...

Floggingmolly · 20/11/2012 19:34

It may well be unisex, but it's definitely more usual as a boy's name.
It would be almost as bad as calling your dd James.
Someone on here had a thread about that a while ago; she was desperate for confirmation that James was a "just beautiful" name for a girl Hmm
It isn't, and neither is Logan.

StillSquiffy · 20/11/2012 19:35

It's a boys name IMO.

Which is a shame because I like the sound of it as a girl's name.

I wanted to call DD Lucca but that got ruled out because of gender confusion in our household. I'm glad I didn't, now.

kinkyfuckery · 20/11/2012 19:35

Only heard it used for boys.

starlightlover · 20/11/2012 19:35

Never realised it was unisex, as I've only ever known boys to be called Logan.

I however love the name Riley for a girl, however most people dislike this name only for a girl.

Narked · 20/11/2012 19:36

I've only heard it used for boys.

BananaBubbles · 20/11/2012 19:36

Definitely a name for a boy.

CwtchesAndCuddles · 20/11/2012 19:37

It's a boys name to me - makes me thnk of the film Logans Run

BiBiBroccoli · 20/11/2012 19:42

DD has a friend called called Logan - she is a girl but people are forever saying 'ooh I thought Logan was a boys name' to her mum which I should imagine is pretty wearying after a few years!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 20/11/2012 19:43

Only known boy Logans, went to school with one and one of DS's little school friends is a Logan and he is a boy.
