DH convinced it is a boy's name but I have never known a boy named this, only girls. AIBU to name my daughter Logan?

I know 2 real children named Logan. Both boys

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/11/2012 19:44

I think it's fine for both. I quite like it for both actually. When i think of logan, i think of wolverine though. I think that says more about my nerdiness than the name itself though!

gail734 · 20/11/2012 19:47

Logan is a surname, as is Regan, MacKenzie, etc.
Giving children surnames as Christian names is a fashion which will date quickly IMO.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/11/2012 19:48

Reagan was a female character in King Lear though...that is quite old.

willesden · 20/11/2012 19:49

Never heard of Wolverine but great photo, thanks.

Logan is a boy's name round here.

ScarletLady02 · 20/11/2012 19:51

If I hear the name Logan I always think of Wolverine as well...and he is HAWT...

Yeeesh, I never say that usually >_

RubyGates · 20/11/2012 19:51

Hmmm Logan. Rhymes with Bogan . Bet it's not popular in the antipodes .

MadameCastafiore · 20/11/2012 19:52

Is a boys name in our neck of the woods. That's a lie, don't know any but to me Logan is a boys name!

Whatevertheweather · 20/11/2012 19:55

I have a 2yo nephew called Logan.

Couldn't imagine it as a girls name so I'm afraid almost unanimously yabu Smile

We're not going to see the op again are we? Grin

Clary · 20/11/2012 19:56

DD said "It doesn't sound like a name, it sounds like logo"

I don't know any Logans which is in itself surprising, but I would assume Logan was a boy tbh.

I'm not into the surname as first name thing even if it has an old and distinguished history. Americans especially love using Irish surnames as first names

Kennedy
Devlin
Reilly
Cassidy
Quinn
Cody
Brady
Brennan
Cullen
Rafferty

BelleJolie · 20/11/2012 20:07

Boy's name... First thing that came to my mind was Maryanne's boyfriend from the Babysitters' Club.

SoMuchToBits · 20/11/2012 20:16

I know two Logans (children) both boys.

redlac · 20/11/2012 20:17

It's a boys name and a surname

Have you seen the Billy Connelly bit when he talks about posh scottish men and their first names - Finlay, Farqhuar etc Grin Grin

Sirzy · 20/11/2012 20:18

I think of it as a boys name to.

goldenlula · 20/11/2012 20:21

I thought it was a boys name until a friend of dh called their dd 'Logan' so now think of it as a either or name!

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 20/11/2012 20:23

OP watch Logan's Run, then you will have your answer Smile

fraggle500 · 20/11/2012 20:23

It's a surname ... It's my surname , but I think a very lovely 1st name..... For a boy Wink

dementedma · 20/11/2012 20:24

Boys name.
Lots of people on Scotland do the surname as first name thing. Knew a guy whose first name was Anderson.

TwistyBraStrap · 20/11/2012 20:24

I thought it was a boys name.
