I'm 5ft 2 and 7 stone 6, I am 3 months pregnant and still haven't gained any weight.
I had a scan 2 weeks ago and baby looks fine but shouldn't I have gained a few lbs by now?

My goodness, you really are a ditsydoll!

You don't tend to start putting weight on until the 2nd trimester and not loads until 3rd trimester.

Nothing to worry about.

MrsFooty · 17/11/2012 13:53

I'm 5ft 0 and I gained .5 pound until I was about mid 20wks. Gained more when I gave up BF than I gained in my whole pregnancy.

As long as baby is ok and you feel fine, you are doing good. Stop worrying

Indith · 17/11/2012 14:01

Your baby is teeny tiny shrimp sized! Where do you expect the weight to come from? Yes women do lay down some brown fat during pregnancy on their thighs and bum but otherwise the only weight you should be putting on is the baby and the fluid that he lives in.

WorraLiberty · 17/11/2012 14:03

Don't worry about it

I don't think I gained any weight until my last trimester and all my babies were a healthy weight.

Mrsjay · 17/11/2012 14:03

hiya I was 7 and a bit stone when i first got pregnant with dd1 and only went up to 8 stone 7ish by the time she was born at 36 weeks honestly your baby is teeny tiny and weighs nothing atm Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/11/2012 14:05

I only put 9lb on in my pregnancy and that was from about 26 weeks. Dont worry!

Mrsjay · 17/11/2012 14:05

I was a bit heavier with dd2 but i was a bit heavier when before I got pregnant I am under 5ft that is why i was so slim with dd2 and i was younger

Marrow · 17/11/2012 14:06

No need to worry! I always lose weight and finish up a couple of stones lighter when pregnant. Much healthier for you and baby not to pile on weight. As long as you are eating a well balanced diet and consuming enough calories baby will get all the nutrition it needs.

Fakebook · 17/11/2012 14:08

You'll be glad you haven't put on any weight yet. It'll serve you well in the third trimester when it all piles on and swelling kicks in.

DumSpiroSpero · 17/11/2012 14:11

So long as baby is ok I wouldn't worry too much. I put on 9lb in my entire pregnancy and nearly all of that was in the last trimester.

I gave birth to a whopping 8lb 13oz baby girl, so something was working well somewhere! Grin

JaquelineHyde · 17/11/2012 14:11

I'm 18 weeks gone and have lost 11lb so far. The baby will take what it needs first so don't worry about it at all. You have no need to consume any extra calories until the 3rd trimester and even then I think it's just something like a chocolate bar extra few pieces of fruit a day.

ditsydoll · 17/11/2012 14:29

Thanks ladies, was beginning to worry that I should have gained by now. I have a little bit of a bump but not much.

Mrsjay · 17/11/2012 14:31

ditsydoll · 17/11/2012 14:32

When I weighed myself at 16 weeks in my last pregnancy I was about half a stone lighter than before pregnancy. (I put it down to a mixture of morning sickness and no alcohol!) When my baby was born he weighed 9 1/2 pounds!

queenrollo · 17/11/2012 15:32

I'm 5ft 3, started this pregnancy at just over 7st and now at 28 weeks i've just creeped up to 8 st on the scales.
In my last pregnancy I was pretty much the same, slow and steady gain of just over a stone from the second tri on.

ditsydoll · 17/11/2012 15:43

Thanks for replies ladies it has put my mind at ease x

Everyone is different. I am fairly tall and slim, and put on 10kg in my first tri with DC1 and the midwife was a bit Shock and told me not to eat too many sweets (!) I wasn't worried. In third tri I didn't gain at all, all the weight just redistributed onto the bump!

It's amazing how much natural variation there is and how different we all look when pregnant. Try to embrace it and not to worry too much :)

Pixieonthemoor · 17/11/2012 16:26

I lost stacks of weight during my first trimester - I guess healthy eating and no alcohol really is the way forward!! Don't worry - you may well be just one of those people who doesn't put on weight. It took me two years to get back UP to my pre-pregnancy weight and my baby was perfectly healthy and bouncing!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/11/2012 17:04

I didn't gain until the third trimester. Probably because I had hideous morning sickness. No problems at all.

Congratulations!

SugarplumMary · 17/11/2012 17:09

I was only slightly over weight, lbs not st, when I became pg with first - I ate well but lost weight. We had moved to a very steep hilled part of UK and walked ever where.

I didn't really show till the last few weeks.

She was over 9 lb when born which no one had expected.

FreakySnuckerCupidStunt · 17/11/2012 17:22

I'm 5'2 and was 7 stone when I fell pregnant, I'm 9 stone now at 29 weeks. Just had a midwives appointment and they've told me my bump is too small so I am having weekly appointments to monitor growth - aside from that I've been told to eat loads and relax.

Don't mind if I do Grin

Rhiana1979 · 17/11/2012 22:19

I ended up lighter at the end of my pregnancy than at the start. Down to morning sickness, wanted to be healthier and by the end baby was laying so I felt full after very little food.

As long as your eating well you'll be fine.

Rhiana1979 · 17/11/2012 22:20

Meant to say DD was 9lb when she was born

Smellslikecatspee · 17/11/2012 22:28
