To ask you for party food ideas as I've left it too late ..

Dd's birthday party tomorrow. 25 children. No idea what to feed them. I've been so busy doing the cake and other bits and bobs I've left the food to today.

I'm sitting waiting for dd to finish her kumon work so give me some party food ideas so I can go shopping later. I've made 48 cupcakes and that's it. Was thinking sandwiches and easy to make/serve food.

there are loads of special offers on party food in the supermarkets at the moment.. sainsburys is doing 3 for a fiver on the stuff that takes 12-15 mins in the oven.

Pizza potato wedges hot dogs carrot sticks crisps ham cheese

Sandwiches take an absolute age to make and rarely get eaten

Just realised I won't be able to warm the food up as the hall kitchen doesn't have a microwave.

Dominos is catering my party. Less fuss, less waste - and meeting the pizza man is an excitement in itself

I wouldn't bother with sandwiches. When we had a party for DS they were completely untouched.

The kids ate: mini sausages, crisps and cake....that's it.

Argh. Don't say that Geordie...but I know you're right

Sandwiches only if you know for certain that they'll be eaten (eg if you're catering for my DH and DS!) Otherwise, little sausages, cherry toms, cucumber sticks, crisps, pizza slices... Not the most adventurous, but they are party staples for a reason

I never make sandwiches. I usually buy loads of chipolatas/cocktail sausages from the butcher, a big block of cheese, and some french sticks. Cook sausages, cube the cheese, slice and butter the bread.
Put out with your cakes, some grapes, carrot and cucumber sticks, and crisps.

Ok dominos sounds good. How many pizzas would be enough for 25 children plus a few adults?

You can cook it at home in the oven and take it with you. Mini pizzas, sausage rolls, chicken things on sticks.. they all taste fine cooled down.

I normally do little miniature sandwiches which are popular. I cut the crusts off and cut them into 9 small squares which are just a mouthful. Always get eaten.

Something different match sticks, cut puff pastry into about 10cm rectangles put in oven, cook for about 30moniutes until all puffed up and golden brown, let cool cut in half, fill with jam and cream, ice the top and put back on, my mum always used to make these for our parties.

Well if you calculate two slices per kid and each pizza has 8 slices, then you'll need about 6 or 7 pizzas.

The last party ds went to there was sainsburys platters of sandwiches already made up (and all the dc ate them) a pork pie sausage roll and scotch egg ready made platter and a fruit platter and 2 fairy cake stands that the host swirly iced at the party. If you haven't got the time and have got the money to pay sainsburys to do it for you...

Subway do platters for about 18 pounds I think. Iceland have loads of defrost and eat goodies. (Although my kids can't wait until they're defrosted and eat them frozen). Only other thing.. Is there a local cafe/caterer that can do it at short notice?

Ok. Sil got in touch and offered to make the pizzas for me. 6 pizzas and I'll make some wedges at home. CArrot sticks, cucumber sticks, crisps and a fruit platter. How does that sound? Oh and cupcakes.

She's going to get Frozen pizzas and spruce them up with extras. I hope they're as nice as she described them. Fingers crossed!
