YANBU. I am shocked and saddened to find out that these big companies don't have our best interests at heart after all.

Truly a sad day :(

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:24

I KNOW

Isn't it amazing?

OP posts:
Tweasels · 14/11/2012 15:24

You must be wrong Hully. Surely all those companies care about is whether we are toasty warm.

ihavenofuckingclue · 14/11/2012 15:25

I uses to work for one of them and I can't believe its true.

They told us they cared so much for the average jo.

Iggly · 14/11/2012 15:26

PMSL

YABU and you know it.

You do realise that British gas et al don't actually do anything except buy electricity and sell it to us? Oh and stick meters in.

They don't maintain the electricity supply networks eg the cables and pylons etc.

They're just middle men rip off merchants

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:26

They particulalry care for cold old people too.

I just can't get over it being reported as NEWS, as if it's so amazing.

I have THE RAGE

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:27

So you have a company. It's sole raison d'etre is to make money.

And then people are surprised.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK FUCK AGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

OP posts:
Tweasels · 14/11/2012 15:30

My favourite thing about the energy bastards is how if you're struggling financially, they give you a meter on which your gas and electric costs more.

So if you are poor your punishment is to pay more for your necessities or sit in the dark hoping your children don't freeze.

Naice

Absy · 14/11/2012 15:30

Have you ever seen the Enron movie "the Smartest Guys in the Room"? There's a crazy bit (and it ACTUALLY HAPPENED) where the Enron traders were mucking about with the Californian electricity supply to make money, as in, they'd phone up electricity supplier and go "switch off for a couple of hours, say you need to do maintenance or something" and then the price of electricity would go up. It's insanulous

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:31

agggghhhhhhhhhhh

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:32

I know.

But WHY do we let this shit happen?

The fucking banks

The fucking private equity companies

The fucking energy companies

aaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:33

Thames water is owned by private equity companies. It owes 84 million billion pound, made 9 zillion profit and spent FUCK ALL on infrastructure.

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:34

And CHOICE

No one wants pretendy choice.

No one wants to check energy company prices once a month and switcheroo.

OP posts:
MrsChristmasVamos · 14/11/2012 15:35

They're all arseholes.

But what annoys me about the energy companies is that the news people are all saying that Ofgem and the FSA could impose fines on them if they are found guilty, which means our prices will go up again, in order for them to pay the fines.

There is no way that prices will come down. Angry

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:36

And befroe someone says it's lega...

THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:36

Lost an "l" there in the RAGE

OP posts:
MrsChristmasVamos · 14/11/2012 15:38

Nope, it's not right, but there's eff all we can do.Sad

yummymummytobe1 · 14/11/2012 15:38

It is a disgrace and the big nationals always get away with it. Why?? because they can hide behind their slimy lawyers. Perhaps we need to reintroduce publicly run utility companies.

ihavenofuckingclue · 14/11/2012 15:39

They get away with it because the government make fortunes.
Out every £100 you pay to your energy company £30 is 'green tax' and vat. Then you have the cost of transporting it take the majority.
British gas cpult half their profits (they should) and you would save about £3-4 in every £100 you spent.

ihavenofuckingclue · 14/11/2012 15:41

Those figure were industry averages given at the becoming of 2012.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 15:44

We can fight.

OP posts:
Absy · 14/11/2012 15:54

Actually, what has happened? I've given up on the BBC (they're rubbish), Guardian (they're biased and rubbish. and have never heard of proof reading), Telegraph (they're rubbish and too Tory), the Times (they ask for money) so my knowledge of UK current events is sketchy, at best.

HullyEastergully · 14/11/2012 16:00

Jimmy Savil and the bishop of somewhere drank all the electricity.

OR a few whistleblowers have gone oo er price rigging (to set base prices they buy and sell at).

OP posts:
FreudiansSlipper · 14/11/2012 16:07

i hope you are not suggesting that traders manipulate the market so their companies earn more money increasing their bonus are you

shame on you how could you think such a thing

as if this is new news

Absy · 14/11/2012 16:09
