To be shocked by Helen smoking on I'm a Celebrity?

Just that really, was surprised to see smoking on such a popular show. Not that I particularly object to smoking but it seemed a bit unnecessary, especially as its popular with so many kids. Aibu? Should I chill the hell out?!!!

I was surprised to see Max smoking on eastenders earlier.

mrskeithrichards · 13/11/2012 22:02

What? You got a grip on your Christmas list?

winterhill · 13/11/2012 22:02

I think you should give up watching celebrity and find something less boring to do instead.

mrskeithrichards · 13/11/2012 22:03

Max is always smoking!

Parisbanana · 13/11/2012 22:03

Is it Helen you're surprised at, or smoking in general on the show? Because Eric Bristow has been smoking in pretty much every shot he's been on the telly.

kenanddreary · 13/11/2012 22:04

YANBU - just said exactly the same thing to DH.

Rushyswife · 13/11/2012 22:06

Think I've never really noticed it before! (Obviously not very observant) think it was unfortunate that she was puffing away just as the camera cut to a close up of her! Point taken that I should not spend so much time on brain rot, but I love some trashy TV!

BadgersBottom · 13/11/2012 22:07

Gosh yeah - do you think maybe all those kids watching don't know cigarettes exist? I bet that's right - poor things have no idea. Or had, till now. Get onto whoever it is people complain to when things on telly shock them to their very core!

WipsGlitter · 13/11/2012 22:07

I've never really noticed max smoking, but I'm not really paying attention normally m

suburbophobe · 13/11/2012 22:08

Oh, purlease..

Is that the height of your problems?

flyoverthegoldenhill · 13/11/2012 22:09

tis past the watershed Smile

EugenesAxe · 13/11/2012 22:10

YABU - I just saw it and thought 'Wow, she's lucky to have been allowed them in The Jungle'.

It seems weird to talk of an addiction being 'unnecessary' - like the producers thought 'Ooo! I know what'll spice up the show - we'll ask one of the Celebrities to smoke a bit now and then.'

I was shocked how many of the Celebrities I actually knew on sight...

AbeLincoln · 13/11/2012 22:10

Well... TBH the sight of a fag in her mouth might keep some people from looking at her pendulous breasts... Token eyecandy anyone...?

LadyStark · 13/11/2012 22:11

Popular with kids? Really?!

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 13/11/2012 22:11

Helen who? No tv in our house. I'm guessing mirren, Guv. I bet she smokes.

WorraLiberty · 13/11/2012 22:11

This ^^ totally Grin

Have you never seen Big Brother OP?

Most of the conversation and gossip goes on in the smoking area.

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 22:12

Well after what she had just ate, I don't blame her for having a fag tbh

Caerlaverock · 13/11/2012 22:12

Smoking would be the least of my worries if my kids where watching that brain rot

FermezLaBouche · 13/11/2012 22:14

Like it or not, smoking is a perfectly legal habit.
If you're worried about your children seeing it and being tempted to try, all you can do is educate them on the possible horrible consequences of it and hope they make the right choices. I'm one of four. My brother (26) and sister (16) smoke but my other brother and I do not. we drink like fishes instead

Rushyswife · 13/11/2012 22:14

Woah Suburbophobe and badger i said I was a bit shocked not that it was causing me grief! It's pretty clear from the title of my post that its a particularly 'deep' aibu!

thekidsrule · 13/11/2012 22:15

BadgersBottom · 13/11/2012 22:18

Is it permitted to eat testicles in the workplace?

WorraLiberty · 13/11/2012 22:24

No it's not, Badgers

You have to consider nut allergies.

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 22:28
