AIBU to think MN not what I thought it would be

After years of hearing about how influential and "middle class" MN is. I am I being unreasonable to think that I have found it (over past few months - so can't judge beyond this) a bit "meh2! A lot of the postings appear to be attention-seeking, middle-of-the-road and basically dull. Am I missing something?

Did you expect chat about whether after 8's are a truly middle class postre or the hallmark of the nouveau riche?

Did you expect to find the answer to whether or not one should have a furry cushion placed on the toilet lid?

Did you expect to find deep philosophical discussions about whether it's de-rigueur these days to tip the bell boy at the hotel a tenner or a twenty?
