DS has a friend round for tea they are both 6. I can smell something bad coming from his friend... I have checked his shoes/clothes and don't think they have walked in anything nasty so think child may have pooed himself. Child doesn't seem bothered about it in the slightest, he is running round having fun. So AIBU to just ignore it? He is due to go home in about an hour. I know I should probably speak to him and then clean him up but the thought makes me want to vom

Ring his mum and ask her what she wants to do if you are certain it is him

I wouldnt want it sat in my fabrics etc... But OTOH i also wouldn't want the awkwardness of it...

If he has pooed himself yes you would be very unreasonable to leave him in soiled clothes.

The poo might fall out, and spread itself all over your house

Just ask him if he needs the loo, phone his mum and tell her what has happened. You can't leave him, the poor little thing will get a sore bottom

Yabvu to ignore it. Take him to the bathroom and ask him and clean him up if necessary. Cant believe you would even think its ok to leave him in pooey pants for an hour!

No I think if it was my child I would be mortified he'd done it (if that's the case) but I would also be cross if it hadn't been sorted if it was obvious.

I'd probably get you a bottle to say thanks but I wouldn't expect my child to be roaming in his own crap....

FFS, get a grip and clean the bairn up if he needs it.

How could anyone think its ok to leave a child covered in shite, sort him out and give him some clean clothes to put on.

If he's six, I don't see why you should get involved in cleaning him up. I have a 6 yo ds and if he pooed himself (which he WOULDN'T!) I would send him to have a shower, and if a shower was unavailable, to clean up with a damp flannel. You probably should give him some clean pants though.

YABabitU but I sympathise because there's nothing worse than a pair of pooey pants...it's that 'where do I start?' conversation you enter in your head.

It's more likely that he's been for one and not wiped himself. If he's sitting with a poo in his pants it's going to really hurt his bum so you'll have to do something. Plus it's likely to come out all over your floor and furniture and will be a bigger cleaning up job.

If you really can't deal with it (and other people's children's poo does smell so much worse than that of your own kids ), call his mum, say you think he might have had a little toilet accident and she needs to fetch him.

If it was your son would you want his friends parents to do something? your answer to that is what you need to do!

Ok it's done, it wasn't so bad in the end. It was more of a follow through than a full blown turd

Plastic bag, wipes, spare clothes, rubber gloves.

Go in bathroom, open window, stand child by toilet, gently take trousers and pants down. Sit child on toilet, remove soiled clothing to bag. Wipe child, place in clean clothing, wash hands, give child a hug. Job done.

Ds once sat all day at school having pooed himself ..he was 6.
When I mentioned it to the TA next day, she said "I thought I smelt something"
