To take 8mo Ds to a baby group in a sleepsuit?

I'm meant to be going to a baby group later, but I've just realised that DS has run out of clean 'day' clothes (well just trousers he has lots of tops). There's not time to wash any before I have to go. Will other people be judging me if he turns up in a babygrow?!

No! Babies are the appropriate age to carry off onesies!!

You are supposed to put them in clothes? Oh dear me then my children have been rather neglected.

YANBU, my babies were still spending most of their lives in babygros at 8 months.

Mine didnt have any clothes until walking age.. Sleepsuits all the way. So comfortable.

mine didnt really wear clothes day to day well of course they had clothes on but not clothes clothes ( that makes no sense) was all baby gros they wore was decades ago though so maybe baby fashion has changed

As you can now buy onesies for grown ups, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the other mums were wearing them too. I don't really get putting babies in proper clothes; I remember my neighbours 3 month old looking like he was dressed for a day in the office - daft.

There is nothing cuter than a baby in a sleepsuit!

Right well that's settled then! I didn't think I was BU, I just feel a bit self conscious as all the other Mums have their babies in outfits. I'm not a fan of proper 'clothes' either - DS normally wears t shirts and soft trousers - I can't bear to put him in jeans yet!

My almost 8 month old has some dungarees but I don't like trousers. Waist bands on don't look comfy on a fat baby tummy. I do comppletely worn out, greying sleepsuits with holes it the feet for night and nicer one for day!

I always used to dress my son in sleepsuits, then I moved on to the footless ones when he started walking/crawling. He hardly ever wore proper outfits until he was walking properly and then it was soft dungarees or jogging bottoms.

If the mums judge you then you are in the wrong baby group!!!

My DS doesn't wear sleep suits anymore during the day. His feet get all tangled and pop out of the gaps. He actively pulls the feet in anger, so he' stays in tights and joggers now. If your baby doesn't mind sleep suits then it'll be fine.

Sorry, what else do babies wear? I don't have one yet but I was planning on mine wearing sleepsuits...?

YANBU. You could always tell I was a 3rd time mum with DS3 when we went to baby groups as he was still in a sleepsuit at 9 months (mostly because he would pull his socks off even if his feet went blue). All the first time mums had their 6 week old babies in proper outfits. I sometimes put DS3 in a nice sleepsuit for going out and he is 21 months although he mostly wears joggers/jeans now (and tights because he still won't keep socks on).

Peshwari babies do wear sleepsuits a lot of the time - especially when they're below 3 months, however where I am it seems that it is the done thing to wear more 'outfit' based clothes in the day - dungarees and vests, soft jogger style trousers and a t-shirt that kind of thing. I had DS in sleepsuits until around 3 months, then I started to feel self conscious as everyone else was dressing their babies 'properly'.

Some people also go a step further and actually put their babies in 'real' clothes - jeans etc!

Maybe I need a new group or two to go to!

Babygros aren't sleepsuits, they're wonderful all-purpose leisure suits. You'd probably want to dress them up for something formal like a wedding, but for meeting the baby group, why bother as long as it's clean and preferably not full of holes? It's not a fashion parade. They'll all be far more interested in the babies than their clothes, or if not, there's something peculiar about them IMO. (Or maybe there's something peculiar about me.)

Looks around shiftily. Well, not the office exactly, but my oldest son was born in April (over 10 years ago! ), and by June/July it was so hot he was wearing linen trousers and t shirts. I loved those little outfits.

Baybgrows would have been too hot. I did however love those plain white scrumptious sleepsuits from Mothercare. Dressing my sons (now 10 and 7) in crisp clean white sleepsuits, made my heart leap with joy.

But they had to be white. Plain white. Or Cream.

I put dd on sleep suits etc but also would dress heron outfits too - dresses, jeans etc, when she was around 4 months old. Don't see what the issue is. Some posters talk as if babies should only wear babygros and I don't see anything wrong with mixing it up. Clothes on a baby aren't "daft" just because some ppl choose to use only baby grows for the first 8-9 months. Dd used to look adorable in a cute dress or dungarees at 4/5/6 months.

Babygrow is fine. Comfortable outfit is fine. The only thing that is not fuine are those bizarre head bands for baby girls with no hair. What the heck is that all about?

My poor little things wore sleep suits with hand knitted cardies and if cold I would put socks on top of sleep suit too!

Sleepsuits are fine - other mums may even feel reassured and happy that you setting a trend by not being competitive about fancy outfits

DS was in sleepsuits nearly all the time until he started crawling (at that point, his knees used to get all caught up in them). If I wanted him to look smart for any reason, I would put him in a patterned sleepsuit with dungarees over the top. People used to comment on how cute he looked and, when he had dungarees on, some even asked me how I got his feet to match his sleeves

My baby has massive feet, he won't be in babygros for long. He's only a month old and nearly outgrown his 0-3 stuff. He hasn't worth am outfit yet but he will look just as cute and babyish in them as he does in his babygros. Op, put your baby in whatever you like!

Hmm northern I must say I'm not a huge fan of those headbands personally.

I would think it too cold for thin cotton sleepsuits.
