To think that this woman is a greedy bitch?

Greedy Bitch here

I believe that state handouts should be for people who genuinely need them. There is just not enough money to go around without giving them to people who are well-off. If Child Benefit was means tested, people on low incomes could be given more. That might be enough to get them off the dole and into work.

Honestly, this article had me seething. I hate greed Sad

also define 'low paid'

my job requires a degree and a post grad - plus a further years on the job training - and on going training and assessment - oh and I also had to take a further DipHE when the job role changed thanks to the last gov.

I work part time - with no option to increase my hours since it's public sector and we can't do anything that will cost them more - no pay increase for 6 years ...

I take home £17,000 a year - yes it not minimum wage but as a lone parent of 3 with a mortgage it's got to stretch a fair way

CB and TC keep us afloat

ICBINEG · 01/11/2012 10:55

goingnowhere I think that would be closer to the mark but childcare in london is substantially more than 10-15K per year.....

goinnowhere · 01/11/2012 10:59

Yes. Would be a start towards fairness though.

morethanpotatoprints · 01/11/2012 11:18

Hairydieter.

Yes she is a greedy bitch. YANBU.
I think over 26k it should be stopped and surplus given to low income families, disabled, unemployed, single parents on low income,

DizzyHoneyBee · 01/11/2012 11:23

gordys, it's hard isn't it? I take home 8k a year and that has to cover 2 children.

brrbrrwinteriscoming · 01/11/2012 11:26

oh good yes, lets give lots of money to the people that sit on their arse all day!

PickledFanjoCat · 01/11/2012 11:26

Here we go.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 01/11/2012 11:27

What was that brrbrr?

DizzyHoneyBee · 01/11/2012 11:29

In my job it is now considered essential to have a degree, I am one year away from completing mine. When I have got the degree I will have no promotion prospects and no pay increase. I earn less than 9k a year before tax.
MrsBucket, you are wrong I'm afraid.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 01/11/2012 11:31

Surely you dont pay tax on 9k?

brrbrrwinteriscoming · 01/11/2012 11:34

ermm... just look above your post shriiieeek? Confused

Glitterknickaz · 01/11/2012 11:34

Caring isn't sitting on your arse.
Mind you posters with that kind of mindset would just like us to lie down so they can step on us to gorge more at their fetid trough.

I'd say people with that attitude can fuck off frankly. I'm saving the arseholes nine grand a week.

TheHairyDieter · 01/11/2012 11:35

gordyslovesheep and DizzyHoneyBee, it is commendable that you are raising a family on such a small income, in spite of working. I really think people like you should be prioritised when allocating Child Benefit. There is no point giving it to the Unemployed as it is just deducted from their other benefits, the rich don't need it, so if it was only given to those in work but on low incomes, imagine how much help that would be.

Why 26K?

Why not 20K? or 15K? How about if you earn enough to pay tax you don't get CB. This is where it will end up. Taking it from the groups that admit themselves that they don't 'need' it is the thin end of the wedge.

PosieParker · 01/11/2012 11:36

Some of the posters on here are massively misinformed.

Me losing my CB will not benefit the military, it will not benefit the disabled, the homeless, the needy.... it will pay off the deficit which was created by over spending and a lack of banking regulations. It was created by the greedy and the needy have to apy for it.

TheHairyDieter · 01/11/2012 11:37

I hate this 'thin end of the wedge' argument, I think it's stupid.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 01/11/2012 11:37

I saw it I just can't believe anyone can be that ignorant. Anyway you obviously are so I can happily ignore you from now on.

Jins · 01/11/2012 11:38

Oh well. I'll cry into my pillow tonight OP

brrbrrwinteriscoming · 01/11/2012 11:43

it is my opinion, so i am entitled to it. I think my money should not be going to fund people who want to do nothing all day. people need to go out and get jobs and pay their own way.

why the hell should i have to pay for other to do sod all?!

PosieParker · 01/11/2012 11:43

I rather like the 'thin end of the wedge' argument. As it more true than anyone of us know, yet.

But let's consider we squeeze the middle as we've already wrung the poor of every penny, now we're not going to squeeze the rich so we'll squeeze everything else that may enable social mobility....like the Unis (yep, squeezed), schools (academies and less central control, lots less money), health, councils for services(which forces them to make money out of parking which ruins our high streets).

PosieParker · 01/11/2012 11:44

Who is doing sod all?

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 01/11/2012 11:44

" low income families, disabled, unemployed, single parents on low income,"
These people do nothing all day and sit around do they? Think, engaging brain, before you answer.

PosieParker · 01/11/2012 11:45

Are you a libertarian Brrrr? And if so who will look after people with disabilities, mental health issues or otherwise unable to work?

brrbrrwinteriscoming · 01/11/2012 11:46

yes i am sure there are a lot of them in your list that ARE doing sod all.

Glitterknickaz · 01/11/2012 11:46

Much as anyone is entitled to an opinion round here to go blindly posting inflammatory messages whilst not engaging with challenges to said opinion... Well there's a name for that isn't there?

Reported as such.
