Neighbour vacuuming at 07:30!

It's HALF TERM! I don't want waking up at 07:30 (their small child is up and stomping around about 20 mins before, mum only works term time so she should be off for half term). AIBU to ask her to stop?

AIBU to think 7:30am is a lie in?

weeps

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 19:48

The world should stop at half term, it's the only time when poor parents get to sleep in!

I can't sleep with earplugs in. I've tried before (previous neighbour liked to shout at his father at 5am). We ended up moving for some 'peace and quiet'. The weekends are the same.

The next time we move it will be into a detached!

Maybe they work FT, or just prefer to get up and get on with things rather than waste the day lounging around like me, either way 7.30 isn't too early IMHO. Unless they expect me to do the same, of course that would B highly U[hwink]

ArthurShappey · 31/10/2012 19:51

What so parents don't work during half term? That's impressive, I'm amazed the country doesn't collapse every half term.

Look you asked. You disagree. Fine. But if I was your neighbour and you whined at me about it I'd Hoover every bloody morning at 7:30am!

ArthurShappey · 31/10/2012 19:52

Actually no I wouldn't because I'd be en route to work, do it would have to be 7am instead.

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 19:54

Na, she doesn't work full time. She looks permanently knackered though, poor woman needs to have a lie in! [hgrin]
I'm open to your opinions, hence why I'm posting in AIBU! I may take some convincing though, because at the moment I'm knackered too!

well go to bed earlier?

really YABU and not very funny

Northernlurkerisbehindyouboo · 31/10/2012 20:01

You aren't open to opinions at all. You've had 1/2 an hour of people saying YABU and you're still whining about being tired. YABU - get over it. I know this thread was lighthearted but I reserve the right to be DEADLY serious.

Hah!

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 20:01

I'm not trying to be funny, I'm knackered. I shouldn't have to get up earlier because my neighbour is cleaning. Do you tell your neighbours what time they should get up?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 31/10/2012 20:02

Then go to bed earlier.

She's not telling you what time to get up. She's getting on with her day.

BsshBossh · 31/10/2012 20:02

I am really surprised at everyone saying 7.30 is fine a time to hoover. I'm an early riser, my DD wakes at 7, my neighbours on one side are elderly and wake around 6, my other neighbours have a baby and are awake as early as 6 but I still wouldn't hoover at 7.30am. Neither of my neighbours hoover that early either.

Northernlurkerisbehindyouboo · 31/10/2012 20:03
LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 20:03

Thanks, Northern [hgrin] I do think that half of you are early birds. I'm not.

OP posts:
WofflingOn · 31/10/2012 20:03

Oh, go ahead and whinge, it's fair enough on MN. Smile But as the response has mostly been YABU, possibly complaining to your neighbour won't change anything and will just make her think you are an unreasonable grump.

Northernlurkerisbehindyouboo · 31/10/2012 20:04

I am so NOT an early bird. No chance of me hoovering at 7.30. Respect to thsoe who wish to though. Hoovering at 11pm would be me.

McHappyPants2012 · 31/10/2012 20:04

Hope I am not your neighbour I was vacuuming at that time this morning. I am off from work and I am not going to be stuck in doing housework so it housework then off out for the day.

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 20:06

Thank you, Bssh! [hsmile]

Some people are not early birds. We shouldn't have to force ourselves out of bed when we don't have to just because our neighbours want to hoover at silly o'clock.

I may save up and buy her a quiet model for christmas. What do you think?

OP posts:
agedknees · 31/10/2012 20:06

I am an early riser. I would not dream of using the hoover at 7.30am. My neighbour has a young child and no way would I disturb anyones sleep at this time.

9am is the earliest I would start my noisy housework.

TantrumsIsTheREALPumpkinKiller · 31/10/2012 20:07

I Hoover at 7;30. My job doesn't stop for half term. I would imagine a good percentage of working parents work at half term.
Plus half term is at different times for different schools.

I would be very pissed off if you told me I couldn't Hoover before work because you didn't have to get up.

You are being quite ridiculous tbh

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 20:08

What happened to a bit of consideration for your neighbour? Sad

OP posts:
TantrumsIsTheREALPumpkinKiller · 31/10/2012 20:08

Some of us have to be early birds though, to get everything done and to work on time.

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 31/10/2012 20:10

Am I not allowed to get a lie in on any day? Sad I don't hoover until 10am, I've never hoovered at 07:30, even when I worked 60 hours a week.

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 31/10/2012 20:10

YANBU. 7:30am is too early. I for one am with you

McHappyPants2012 · 31/10/2012 20:11

My husband works nights, there is no consideration for him.

CelstialNavigation · 31/10/2012 20:11

If their small child is stomping around 20 mins before she starts then are you not awake anyway? [hconfused]
