What is a made in China sweet? I've never looked in detail to where sweets come from.

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 31/10/2012 12:40

What scary said

Sugarbeach · 31/10/2012 12:41

I know what SUgar means. They tend to be the most brightly coloured and most "Novelty" type sweets going.

So....little plastic, fruit shaped squeezy things full of sherbert. Or baby rattles full of tiny livid blue sweets.

YANBU OP.

Ithinkitsjustme · 31/10/2012 12:42

Well I don't do this, but if it makes you happy....
Why don't you either return them to teh person who has spent money on them or give them to some one else if you don't want your DC to have them. Christmas is coming up and no doubt your DC's school will be asking for donations of absolutely anything for their Christmas Fair.

FuckityFuckFuck · 31/10/2012 12:43

Is it because they are sweets?

Or non-British sweets?

Or because you just hate China and everything that is made there?

Or because they are somehow communist sweets?

Or they will give you children a horrible human rights record?

ScaryFakeNails · 31/10/2012 12:44

......... how very clear.

I think you mean those type of sweets you can buy cheaply in newsagents and sweetshops.

No I don't throw them away.

Why do you?

Petsinmyputridpudenda · 31/10/2012 12:45

Free the sweeties !!!

Send them to me

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 31/10/2012 12:46

I'm not a sweetist, I don't care where the origin of my sweets are.

Free sweets are the best sweets Grin

mignonette · 31/10/2012 12:46

Don't go trick or treating then. How silly....

MrsCantSayAnything · 31/10/2012 12:49

OP is probably nervous about the ingredients and with good reason. China is not known for it's care in terms of pollution generally or paint used in toys.

Sugarbeach · 31/10/2012 12:51

She gets given too many sweets anyway, so she can't eat all of them, because I won't allow that many sweets. So, you can say it's because, they are sweets fuckityff. And the fact that i don't trust edibles made in china....she's just got a whole handful of them from the Halloween disco just now....

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 31/10/2012 12:52

no i don't have to bother as ds does not like haribo type sweets or candy :o

i am not keen either apart from those sour fizzy things

halcyondays · 31/10/2012 12:53

I've never even noticed any sweets that said made in China, tbh, so,no, I don't.

Sugarbeach · 31/10/2012 12:53

Thanks mrs cant, I think you get me.

OP posts:
Sugarbeach · 31/10/2012 12:54

Haribos are fine

OP posts:
StuntGirl · 31/10/2012 12:54

You don't trust edibles made in China?? What?

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 31/10/2012 12:56

not according to my ds :o

ScaryFakeNails · 31/10/2012 12:56

No I don't throw them away. I don't throw any sweets away ever.

But we're obviously on a different wave length as I don't have rules about sweets.

I understand the point you're making but considering I don't investigate the origins of any of our food I don't think a few sweets is the place to start and plus its not something I really care about. I doubt it will kill them.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 31/10/2012 12:57

FGS...it's never crossed my mind before, now I have something else to worry about! wanders off muttering distractedly

PosieParker · 31/10/2012 12:58

I think you'd be surprised what can go into sweets in general, let alone sweets made in china.

ScaryFakeNails · 31/10/2012 12:59

This.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 31/10/2012 12:59

Sorry, didn't mean to write in bold, I'm clearly bothered by filling DS up with even more rubbish.

RyleDup · 31/10/2012 13:00

No, I don't throw them away.
