In which, middle class India Knight called la Liz everything under the sun on her nasty twitter diatribe of nonsense.

Schadenfreude, I know.

Sali's been very quiet since she joined up last week. I'd be interested to read an apology from her for wrongly claiming that Alastair Campbell misquoted I.K. She may well have misunderstood but an explanation would be nice.

Bupcakes

Had the great misfortune of turning on BBCBreakfast last week to find IK promoting her latest Magnum Opus which is apparently about how to age gracefully. IK claimed that the major concern of all her friends/social circle is how not to appear 'mutton'....Superficial lot....

Am finding it really hard to get a good grasp on IK's books in shops. Very fiddly size. They will keep falling down the back of the book display shelf when I try to pick them up....

I rather think that ageing gracefully should encompass being compassionate to people with MH illnesses and being able to apologise when you've been caught out being a questionable toad.

But praps I should be worrying about whether I am too old for my biker boots.

Never too old for Bikers, Bupcakes. Never. Unless they are used to stomp all over the feelings of the MI.

LOL at Frieda Grin

I am so relieved about the bikers. My life can continue as it was.

Oh, no it can't. What about winged eyeliner? Am I mutton? This is tricksier than I thought...

I bought India knights diet book years ago. I put on 7lbs in a week following that diet .

It obviously doesn't work.

Apart from that I had no idea who she was. Still no idea who sail x is.

It's thread confirms my opinion that Twitter is just a bit inane and boring.

@LittleFrieda

The best bit about this thread is where someone says "She is a big girl" and then Justine objects to that and explains: "We took that to mean you were referring to IK's weight." I'm speechless.

I think Mumsnet need to start deleting their own posts.

And while you're about it, could you please delete this one as well as repeition of a libel ....

Sorry you've lost me. Why are you speechless?

JustineMumsnet, I think it's because you deleted me for saying must not say anything to "She is a big girl" (quite rightly Blush) and then you repeated what I said anyway.

Fine to call someone mental. Not fine to call someone chunky.

Would love you to show me where we have ever we said it's fine to call someone "mental"?

Yes, as said at the time you were deleted for unpleasantness. Think that needed explaining as you were asking why you'd been deleted when you'd done nothing wrong...

No, no, no I wasn't referring to you at MNHQ. I was referring to IK/Sali x being able to mete out insults to others on the interweb but how it's not OK for others to do the same. You'll see from my post prior to that one that I was talking about things said on Twitter too.

Justine, (not sure I am enjoying being rollocked by the headteacher) I acknowledged upthread that the jibes were ripe for deletion. I asked you why my first post to Sali x was deleted, the one where I asked why she wouldn't apply the same criticism (bitchy/immature) to her friend IK. But you didn't answer that, you just said "well you were rude and aggressive in THESE posts" then quoted the rude ones.

Sadly we can't control the interweb, but on MN we have standards Smile

Why rollocking? I'm just answering points you've made on this thread. I'd call it engaging, actually.
I'll look up what you said earlier down the thread that was deleted...

Two deletions of yours that I can see - both posts were quite aggressive and bitchy/sarcastic so I imagine that was why they were zapped:

"Funny, cos that could be applied to your bumchum India, could it not? Typical bully's mate talking there; she can give it out but don't give it back to her because she's lubbly weally behind the scenes."

"Aw that was cute wasn't it - hmm face" after shooz27 posted:
"Logging off now. I've said what I wanted - to point out that many of these comments are factually incorrect - and it's fine by me that people disagree with me. Just know that these very personal things that are said publicly on here are always heard by the people they refer to. It's not like gossiping in a friend's front room, it's far nearer to going up to a stranger in the street and calling them fat or accusing them of being ashamed of their mother. It's completely public. I'd suggest that if you wouldn't say it to someone straight, then don't say it on here and think for one minute it's any different. But if you would, then I guess that's between you and your conscience."

There is an awful lot deleted on this thread so imagine duty person was quite busy zapping and trying to make a point. In many ways once threads descend into this kind of bunfight we're better off just deleting the whole thing rather than trying to police. Certainly would save us some bother...

No, I appreciate that you can't control the internet, I wouldn't level that at you. Was just following on in conversation talking about the internet world inhabited by the folks concerned with this thread...

I was sarky but I think my point still stands. Wasn't aware that sarcasm was frowned upon so I will review my posts before hitting go from now on.

I think I have invested more of myself in this thread than I would have liked tbh. Mainly because IK bloody well rattled my cage with her dismissive attitude towards MH and then being totally unable to appear contrite about it (Alastair Campbell didn't misquote anyone, I read the original) I'll bow out on this one now, just because it feels a little bit head off brick wall.

I did mean to type Wink after the rollocking remark, btw. Blush

I understand what you're saying, but please don't delete the whole thread.

The one about her comments on mental health is already gone and if this disappears it will feel like MN is a IK sanitised area!

IK was not misquoted by Alistair Campbell.

As journalists India and Salliiiiii should know how infuriating it is when a subject claims to have been misquoted when they bloody well haven't been.

No we won't delete it Poppy because the horse has bolted, as it were.

There is absolutely no problem with taking issue with IK's comments on mental health - as said a number of times - it's simply the personal attacks we take issue with.

Good grief what the hell are the last ten threads actually about? Of course IK is a big girl, she has written about it herself, in long and boring detail.

Justine-Still don't understand why you had to delete the original IK thread where lots of posters criticised her appallling attitude to people with mental health issues. Surely you could have just deleted the posts which were personal attacks whilst keeping the whole thread. It does smack of censorship.
