i live in an area renowned for its teen pregnancies where people have kids young

i had mine relatively young too, i was 26 and 29 respectively but this is old in my area.

and i feel like an absolute granny compared to the mums i see every day at school. i am at least 10 years older than most of them - am only 33 ffs! they are all so trendy and fresh and pretty and SKINNY damn them

they all have this identikit casual style... think long shiny hair thrown up into a messy bun, fresh subtle make up, skinny jeans, slouchy tops, but super groomed, with their immaculately turned out little DC in tow. some of them have like 3 or 4 DC and still look about 14 years old fgs. and did i mention they are ALL SO DAMN SKINNY Envy

:(

Lol had to chuckle at this post but also empathise.

Im 32 and actually compared to most of mums at dd 1s school quite young.

I dont think age is relevent.

There are the well groomed, well dressed skinny ones of all ages.

A couple strutt round playground like they gods gift,2have blatently had boob jobs.

but most on whole dar i say it quite mumsey more than trendy.

I wish i was more groomed but most days with 3kids 2 toddlers its miracle make it to school on time never mind put some slap on,

generaly morning drop off look rubbish.

bu afternoon i pulled myself together and look bit better.

but am i happy know barly get 5mins to spend on myself, moneys tight and mostly 1 of my toddlers are kicking off and showing off in playground.

I used to think same as anyone else how much does school gates ,matter.

some mums hang round for ages chatting-like they have no homes to go too. get there early to get parkings space.

I used to belong to pta-i say used to has resigned last week.

I pnly have 1 school age year 2 and she starts new school mon in slightly more leafy suberb.
I have no idea what to expect.

so I may regret this.

I have new jeans at the ready
makeup
alarm set and home hair dye.

aim is to be more glam and trendy at new school.
will be a challenge as im further away.

was hoping dye hair ths afternoon may wait until tommorow.

planning makeup at all times
carefully planned outfits.

the 2meetings at new school with head teacher I made sure looked the part.

Am I nervous about the playground hell yes more nervous that dd.

when looking round schools i looked at school gates at hometime and they were polor opposites although did like pjs, coat, uggs and fag in mouth look-needless to say put me off my closest school.

I'm 27 and the youngest mum in the nursery/playground/neighbourhood etc and feel like people look down their noses at me because I am not 'dressed up' enough.

They all seem to put in a huge effort, getting their hair done etc and I just don't see why it matters.

FWIW, I AM jealous. But only jealous of their situation: IE: living in an area with lots of people in the same position as themselves. I'm always a bit of an odd one out because I wasn't old enough to see New Kids On The Block on tour.

It's official!!!! Low self esteem is prevalent in all women until you hit 45.. Then you really really don't give a shiny shite...

Fantastic.

MoomieAndFreddie · 04/11/2012 09:35

Its funny you have said that thebody, my mum was saying that recently. she is 55 and REALLY does not give a shit what people think of her lol.

Well if your theory is correct I only have 12 years to go..... :o

Ooh not jealous at all I didnt want to spend my pert bottomed years in a playground thank you very much I was too busy being selfish, travelling and earning during my twenties.

naturalbaby · 05/11/2012 17:04

I'm about 10yrs younger than most of the mums in ds's school but they all have pots of money so always look immaculate in designer clothes/hair/make up/cars. I've given up trying to keep up, at least I have relative youth on my side!

and as for the state of my body after ds3, I might as well have another 6 babies now as there's no hope for my tummy.

PropertyNightmare · 05/11/2012 17:11

Yabu. Presumably you had children at the point of your life that best suited you. Things might have been very different if you'd got knocked up at 16. Be grateful for what you'be done with your life to date. At least you enjoyed your childhood before having children yourself!

skiesmylimit · 05/11/2012 19:05

I'm 22 and DS1 is in nursery. 3.6 years old. (DS2 is only 7 months) I have found a few posts on here slightly offensive but that must be my over sensitive woman things

I am young, trendy and thin. But you know something? I feel like the major odd one out. And the one that's 'judged'. Because of my age. Its nice when one of the 'older' mums give me a smile. I am 22, however I look 16 :(

I am ALSO married to the dad of both kids, we're both 22 :o
