To wish people wouldn't hold up everyone in the car park

I know that shopping centre car parks are getting busy now with half term and Christmas on the horizon but I wish people would use common sense when looking for a space. If someone has just arrived back at their car with a trolley packed with bags of groceries which have to be unloaded into the boot before wheeling the trolley back to the bay, and a couple of small children who are going to have to be strapped in after the trolley has been returned, then it is obvious it is going to be at least five minutes before that person will be ready to move off.

But does that stop some idiots from sitting there with their indicator flashing while a huge queue of cars builds up behind them often spilling out onto the road and holding up loads of drivers who aren't even going to the shopping centre? No, it doesn't.
AIBU to wish people would not block everyone in this way but would just drive on and wait for another space to become available?

I just get frustrated that so many people will struggle to find a space near the door and ignore the vast number of empty spaces at the far end of the car park. Is it really that hard to walk 100m to the entrance?

Just put your hand on the horn and leave it there.

make sure you continue to look around in confusion so nobody thinks it is you if in a queue

I have given up being frustrated by people who drive/park like idiots, and I now save my rage for those lazy fuckers who leave their empty trolleys strewn across the car park and path. BASTARDS!

I also get frustrated by people who clog up the car park looking for a space next to the door when there's plenty of empty spaces further away.

YANBU. Some people get in their own little competitive bubble in busy car parks, and will not let someone else get a space they have set in the sights even if it means they waste their own time waiting and inconvenience everyone following them.

Just keep driving to the furthest reaches of the car park. It takes less time to walk the entire length of a car park than it does to sit and watch a family sort themselves out before vacating a space.

YANBU! I was in Tesco's Sunday, merrily putting shopping in boot, look up to find a huge line of cars. For one minute thought the rather angry looking woman indicating was waiting for me then realized she was waiting for the woman opposite in the Mother and Child Bay. When the space was vacated the angry woman practically parked diagonally across the space and got out with her TEENAGE daughter (I presume). She held up the entirety of the car park for a mother and child space she wasn't entitled to!

And before anyone says anything the teenager was perfectly able to get out of the car and shut the door without once looking up from her phone!

I get frustrated in heaving car parks when you spot someone getting back into their car and sit down, I mouthe "are you leaving?", and get a "no" back. WELL WHAT ARE YOU DOING SITTING IN YOUR CAR?!

Internet shopping . Peace. You will NEVER have to park in a supermarket carpark again and those people will cease to bother you...

I walked across a car park with a buggy and toddler loaded down with bags years ago. A bloke drove past and asked if I was going. Then very slowly followed me to my space. Bit unnecessary.

We saw an altercation the other day in the supermarket car park. A guy saw a space two or three cars along but to get to it he had to against the one way system for a short stretch. He turned to do that but met a line of cars coming the other "right" way. There wasn't room for them to squeeze by each other and the guy looking for the space wouldn't back off. He kept gesticulating to the line of about 5 cars that they should reverse to let him get to the space he wanted.

The chap at the front of the line got out of his car and walked back up the line taking ages explaining to each driver what was happening and that he wasn't going to move. Meanwhile, we and others couldn't get out of our spaces, the guy trying to park couldn't get back into the line of traffic and gridlock ensued.

Both parties seemed entirely oblivious to the inconvenience they were causing while they held their ground .

I hate doing a half way through shopping trip return to the car Iodine because people ask if I am going. I fling the bags in the boot and sometimes sit in the drivers seat and have a drink and put some lippy on before getting out and heading back to the shops..... I am sorry.

This is why I'm scared of car parks!

I am fine driving from A to B, but get the sweats when I near the car park!

Ido (much to my DC bemusement!) tend to park in the furthest space from the shop!
I have held people up whilst reversing into a space, but I'm a new driver so I'm sure I will improve I hope

Ah Sparkling, I will forgive you and everyone else. It's just so stressful when you're trying to find a space.I will practice my meditating so I don't get so stressed .

I sometimes go back to the car and sit in it because I'm waiting for my OH to finish the shop (usually because I've taken the DCs back to the car because I can't stand being in a shop with them for a moment longer).

I have learned to sit in the passenger seat while waiting - even though I then move to the driver's seat when OH comes back - saves every single car asking "Are you going?".

Closest I ever came to car park rage was when I was waiting for a space to be vacated (but not blocking the road so people could go by me). I'd pulled forward so the person in the space could get out and then before I could get the car into reverse some fucker in a two seat sparts car roared into it. I actually got out and said, exuse me I was waiting for that space and they just sort of looked vague as though they couldnl't hear me, then said, oh sorry, we didn't know. So I then asked if, no they did know, they could move and they again came pver all deaf and wandered off. I was NOT happy.

I hate it when you are going but the person wanting your space won't give you enough room to get out. Just sits there indicating while you struggle to see/ not hit them.

Piprabbit, ah I think it confuses me because I can't understand it. If I left DP in the shop alone he would never return. I need to be there shooing him out. The man loves shopping, weirdo.

I think they are so worried that if they back off someone will nab the spot that they have to hover two inches from your boot Brecon.

Bupcakes is right I am afraid. I am quite enjoying the Park and Ride these days, But I sit there dreading lots of people in wheelchairs and people with prams getting on and having a dispute.
