I thought that, maybe they're paying them danger money!

Spatsky · 29/10/2012 22:21

I have an American friend who just posted that one of said reports inserted uncle, she is pretty angry/worried that he s still there.

Spatsky · 29/10/2012 22:23

Omg - is her uncle, not inserted uncle. What an unfortunate autocorrect!

monsterchild · 29/10/2012 22:24

The reporters seem to have more skills in getting out than your average person! Perhaps they have better vehciles and aren't trying to move lots of stuff too.

Plus, as far as I can tell, it's very exciting for them to stay! And they get their news story broadcast.

crazynanna · 29/10/2012 22:24

One just said on ITN...."this massive storm that will make the sea probably swamp the underground train system will hit this spot right here in approx 45 minutes"

Well why the fuck are you still there, fella??!! Shock

Kim, I don't watch scary movies, real life is scary enough for me thanks!!

It's way easier for 200 (healthy, fit, well-equiped) journalists to safety than to get 200,000 people to safety.
Journalists report from war zones/civil unrest/lawlessness etc etc. Take a calculated risk for "the story". This is the same.

pumpkinsweetie · 29/10/2012 22:30

Must be getting paid a lot, either that or they are plain stupid!

Tiredmumno1 · 29/10/2012 22:31

I was thinking the same, it's pretty scary watching it, those poor people that are there must be petrified, I pray everyone stays safe.

Rowanhart · 29/10/2012 22:34

It's the instinct of a journo I think. Running towards danger rather than running away from danger.....
