But sometimes honesty can come across as harsh? Depends on your standpint, I guess.

Confused
WorraLiberty · 28/10/2012 23:32

YABU

You might think it's a small world now, but what if you were asked to hoover it?

And to be honest, your OP has confused me.

So I'll just sit here drinking Wine and...well that's it really.

Goldmandra · 28/10/2012 23:37

Wouldn't that take a lot of the entertainment factor out of MNing?

TheBigJessie · 28/10/2012 23:43

Worraliberty's extension of a standard phrase into a witty, original point has astounded me.

How do I nominate it for quote of the week? It may be the funniest sentence I've ever read on MINUTE.

TheBigJessie · 28/10/2012 23:44

MN- bleddy autocorrect.

WorraLiberty · 28/10/2012 23:54

TheBigJessie Why did I read that in the voice of Sheldon's girlfriend from The Big Bang Theory?? Grin

Perhaps it's time to swap the Wine for Brew Blush

Cahoots · 28/10/2012 23:57

I think that if you give a forthright, blunt, rude type of reply, even if it is meant to be helpful, then the receiver will turn off and wont listen. If a poster posts something that is clearly very unreasonable I like to try and persuade them and nudge them into thinking more reasonably. I don't mean in a passive aggressive way either!

Sometimes I would like to write 'wow, you are a bitch' (or similar)but that wouldn't help anyone and my post would get deleted

(My world is not small, mine is an oyster and I wouldn't recommend hoovering it up as the vacuum cleaner would start to stink after a couple of days)

Honesty would certainly be a start, wouldn't it? After all, there is nothing more silly than someone posting a deliberate untruth to try to get a rise out of other people, thereby failing to be reasonable to others.

Great post OP! Wink

most threads go tits up in AIBU, don't they boots? Grin

EmpressOfTheSevenScreams · 29/10/2012 00:38

Cheers.

I think MN is generally pretty good if someone wants honest opinions. But is it possible to be too honest sometimes?

Procrasstinator - Probably not. My post was in response to something the OP said on another thread tonight.

I suspect she is a Mumsnetter who was feeling somewhat disgruntled on a thread yesterday and has posted a ridiculous comment on it today under a new username and then has started this thread. It amused me.

Shoot me if I'm wrong!

Procrasstinator · 29/10/2012 00:50

i think it is definitely possible to be too honest
but if you bring it to AIBU...you know what you are gonna get, surely??!

i hate the ever-so ever-so polite rudeness. Swearing and shouting s'ok by me.

BloodyReallyMadmMolar · 29/10/2012 21:53

LibrarianByDay please stand against a wall to face the firing squad,in all the years of my internet usage on forums and such like, I have found that a good healthy dose of cynicism,is a must anything else is bordering on naivety.
