a Cuban-themed dinner dance at school?

Got a fabcy printed invitation through the post today. Dinner, Cuban band, evening dress, auction during the evening, raffle etc. etc. Sounds wonderful....

But ?125.00 per ticket? so ?250.00 per couple?

I think that is utterly ridiculous! Am I alone?

What sort of school are we talking here? It's not the local comp is it?

scurryfunge · 25/10/2012 13:49

Sounds very pricey to me.

well, it is an unusaul set-up. It is a state school, funded by the French government, but then on Wednesdays, there's a special school which operates for bilingual children, which is fee-paying, but not at all UK fee-paying costs. It is less than ?1,000 for a year's tuition with native language teachers.

So, no, it's not your local comp but nor is it a fancy boarding school.

it is a very ordinary, ugly 1970s building in an average Paris suburb which just so happens to offer the language course we need.

wow, that sounds a lot for even a 'corporate' event style dinner / dance. What are they raising money for?
