Ok, £2 million quid for a house. Not a mansion. And not in Chelsea, or even in London.

So what do you put as the cover photo?

A shot at a weird angle showing off all the hideous 1970s fugliness of the houss:

And then a few photos making it look cramped.

Same house, different agent:

It looks much nicer all round.

I mean obviously it's still hideous for £2 million, but still.

OP posts:
Boomerwang · 24/10/2012 12:57

They look suspiciously like bedding left in its packaging. I have no idea why they are there. I can't even see it being a joke. I'm dying to know now.

MsVestibule · 24/10/2012 12:59

hungrywoman bizarre, I have no idea! They look a bit like bolster pillows, but why are they standing up Confused. Also, the house looks as though it hasn't been touched since c1987.

Regarding the house on the OP, it shows the difference a magic camera and a sunny day makes.

typicalvirgo · 24/10/2012 13:33

those things on the bed

and what the heck is that floral display ... looks like tampons on sticks

they'll need a removal van just to take all the cushions !

MonkeyRisotto · 24/10/2012 14:36

OP A shot at a weird angle showing off all the hideous 1970s fugliness of the houss:

I think it's shot at that angle to give a full frontal shot without the tree.

FatimaLovesBread · 24/10/2012 14:40

hell That house has a serious abundance of cushions and pillows!

FatimaLovesBread · 24/10/2012 14:46

This is a hideous new build near me. Looks very 70s. I'm sure the price has gone up though, although i'm not sure what you can spend an £85k furniture allowance on Shock

typicalvirgo · 24/10/2012 16:04

I could easily spend £85K on furniture Fatima Grin

FatimaLovesBread · 24/10/2012 16:12

Oh god that staircase is scary. I thought it was a property abroad then realised it was in Torquay.

Virgo I suppose I could if I had to Grin But why don't they just price the house £85k cheaper?! I suppose it isn't too bad. It was a gorgeous house with huge garden but that got sold and two houses were built in the garden, that being one of them

cynister · 24/10/2012 16:17

How on earth would you manage the stairs after drinks?

VintageRainBoots · 24/10/2012 17:07

Euphemia, if they can afford to buy the place, they can afford to pay a gardener to mow.

Typical, we're in the process of moving to Guildford. Yes, the home prices seem kind of high to me, but I assumed that it was because I'm used to the lower American home prices.

JoanBias · 24/10/2012 17:36

Vintage, anything close to the town centre is stupidly expensive. Godalming is 'nicer', but obviously not as much shopping, and a longer train journey to London.

PurityBrown, oooooh, between New Addington and Fieldway. Naice.

Coulsdon, even parts of Purley... South Croydon village? Reigate? Anywhere but New Addington . I used to have to go there a lot for work (SS) and getting the tram back at school closing was an education.

SoupDragon · 24/10/2012 20:26

"South Croydon village"

PMSL. No such place. south Croydon is as far from a village as you can get.

lionheart · 24/10/2012 23:04

You'd have to shimmy up that stair case.

The difference between those two sets of photos is amazing, JB but that second property you posted hurt my eyes.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 24/10/2012 23:21

MsVestibule that house with the weird bedding was "built in the last 12 years to the current vendors personal specification." Shock

FlibberdeGibbet · 24/10/2012 23:45

...So you are expected to pay nearly £5 million and it doesn't even warrant a photo of the house, only the fecking beach!

LulaPalooza · 25/10/2012 00:16

Isn't Sandbanks supposed to be the most expensive place for real estate in the UK?

Perhaps the 5mill is just to be able to pitch your tent on the beach!

The first property on this thread is truly fugly, and from the study it looks like it belongs to a lawyer (they look like law journals on the wall).

I quite like the on in Torquay though I'd have to get rid of the stupid staircase.

cbeebiesatemybrain · 25/10/2012 01:38

How come the first ad says its got 5 bedrooms and the second says 4?

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/10/2012 03:52

Hell yes, SoupDragon I have coined South Croydon Village and it's going to stick. And raise the price of my flat by 10K

mathanxiety · 25/10/2012 05:00

I have always fancied living in Sweden and that apartment made me drool.

Boomerwang · 25/10/2012 05:41

I found it amongst a few listings where you can buy your own Island for under 500k. Not the sort of thing you usually find your local estate agent listing.

You can get a brand new build triple floored 5 bedroom house with a double garage, cottage, sauna and about 2000 sq m of land for under 500k here.

Boomerwang · 25/10/2012 05:46

700k gets you this absolutely stunning house. You must click on 'alla bilder' under the picture to see the rest of the pictures. It's bloody beautiful.

Over here what do you reckon that'd be worth, even outside of London?
