Unless I missed boat completely the lyrics to new song is all about having a one night stand with a girl.
I get a lot of songs are about sex, love ect, but their fans are very young, and lucky for me dd1 isnt a fan BUT feel uncomfortable about girls as young as 8 singing a song about "getting some"

Lyrics here

Oh shit Glaikit, I think I've realised why I spent my late teens/early 20s as an e-popping nymphomaniac.

GlaikitFizZombie · 21/10/2012 18:00

Horny horny horny! Yep was my tune too!

Actually, come to think of it AKiss, part or my statement isn't quite true! Wink

saulaboutme · 24/10/2012 16:32

The one that gets me at the moment is Lisa Ora 'How We Do' or whatever it's called. My 12yr old DD really likes it and I'm sure she says ' I get that drunk sex feeling when I'm with you' Hate it, hate it, hate it!! And in her other one 'RIP'? ' You can call me daddy even though you AIN'T my daughter' It makes me sick! And I consider myself to be quite with it!!!!

YerMaw1989 · 24/10/2012 17:44

Erm dunno if my child heard that I would be a bit hmm'hope the don't ask me what that means'

but....

I was listening to eminem at that age, and his earliest albums were the worst and I was niether a thug or overly sexualised. And I understood all the references.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 24/10/2012 18:04

Has anyone mentioned Katy Perry's Futuristic Lover?
'Take me...Fill me with your poison....Ready for abduction.'

I know there's no reason to expect a pop star to act as a role model - but why would a women write lyrics like that? At least teenage girls (like my DD) know it's creepy, but the tweenies will just spout it without thinking twice.

Must say, I thought the OneD one was more about getting pissed and 'partying' all night - but I suppose it does refer to a one night stand when you read the lyrics.
Somehow I don't find the idea of a boy and girl (presumably over the age of consent) getting it on as disturbing as Katy Perry's expressed desire to be 'abducted' and 'taken.'

XtinasAndBsMummy seems to be dragging up old One Direction threads for some reason.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 09/12/2020 18:20

Dd is 14 and complained in the car the other day, that all the songs are about sex or cheating. She seemed offended grin

CounsellorTroi · 09/12/2020 18:22

As someone who was a teen in the 70s I'm amazed at today's pop lyrics There was the odd suggestive lyric but nothing as sexually explicit as today . "I can't get no satisfaction" was the worst I heard.

TicTacTwo · 09/12/2020 19:45

I was in primary school in the 80s and have vivid memories of singing "Like a virgin... touched for the very first time" in the car at full volume. Blush

@ShotgunNotDoingThePans

I know there's no reason to expect a pop star to act as a role model - but why would a women write lyrics like that?

I guess the simplest answer is that it’s men, no women, who write most of the lyrics (the Katy Perry song was mainly written by 3 guys).

PrincessNutNutRoast · 09/12/2020 20:05

My mother likes to tell the story of how she took me, aged three, in my buggy into the post office, only for me to burst out singing, "You'd better shape up, 'cause I need a man, who can keep me satisfied..."

MrsWarleggan · 09/12/2020 20:10

My 6 year old is very fond of "Shout out to my ex" by Little Mix. Always makes me cringe when I hear her sing "I hope she's getting better sex, hope she ain't fakin' it like I did!" 🙄

PrincessNutNutRoast · 09/12/2020 20:18

@StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes

now I know I am an old gimmer but several times I have heard Hey Mickey being Shock ed at, can someone explain it to me as I am clearly missing the point.
So come on and give it to me any way you can, Any way you want to do it, I'll take it like a man, Oh please baby please, don't leave me in a jam, Mickey...
PrincessNutNutRoast · 09/12/2020 20:23

Oh ffs. I suppose that poster has probably got her answer in the eight years since she asked the question.

Cakeonthefloor · 09/12/2020 20:36

There's a hole in the middle of my heart like a polo.....can lyrics be any more poetic🙄

GoGadgetGo · 09/12/2020 20:40

Let's tell it how it is, and how it could be
How it was, and of course, how it should be
Those who think it's dirty, have a choice
Pick up the needle, press pause, or turn the radio off
Will that stop us, Pep? I doubt it

All right then, come on, Spin
Let's talk about sex, baby
Let's talk about you and me
Let's talk about all the good things
And the bad things that may be

slashlover · 09/12/2020 21:06

Tonight's the night I've waited for
Because you're not a baby anymore
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Happy birthday, sweet sixteen

What happened to that funny face
My little tomboy now wears satins and lace
I can't believe my eyes, you're just a teenage dream
Happy birthday, sweet sixteen

When you were only six
I was your big brother
Then when you were ten
We didn't like each other
When you were thirteen
You were my funny valentine
But since you've grown up
Your future is sewn up
From now on you're gonna be mine, so

hammeringinmyhead · 09/12/2020 21:09

Does nobody who is only reading the first post not think "new One Direction song" is a bit odd when they split up 5 years ago??
