To be annoyed about p&c space

Today went to tesco no parent and child spaces, not a problem there's only two. Noticed another parent from nursery was parked in one thought this was strange as her kids are always the last out of nursery at it was only 510. Sure enough met her and her husband in the shop with no children!

I've just vomited up my dinner in disgust! Angry

Sparklingbrook · 19/10/2012 21:50

I have reversed into a space, nipped into supermarket for a loaf, spent £40 on 'essentials' then come back with the trolley and had to squeeze down the side of the car with each individual bag to the boot. Sad

dearprudence · 19/10/2012 21:50

Vote for Shifty to design all new car parks. Grin

LadyBeagleEyes · 19/10/2012 21:56

I think that all the Mners who start threads about P&C parking spaces while they struggle with their young children, will be the MNers in 10 years time who come on these threads and say WTF was I moaning about.
In the scheme of things it really won't matter as you'll be struggling with teenagers by then.

ShellyBoobs · 19/10/2012 22:09

P&C spaces are very useful.

My Q7 is too wide for most of the stupidly narrow spaces in supermarket carparks.

If I manage to park in a 'normal' space, I can barely open the door. If someone else comes and parks even closer, I can't open the door at all.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 19/10/2012 22:14

I always put my shopping in the boot.

Where do you reversing people put yours?

[mystified]

ExitPursuedByAaaaaarGhoul · 19/10/2012 22:17

The dog is in the boot -shopping on the back seat. But I don't reverse.

And this thread isn't about the p&c space, it is about the fact that the children were in nursey whilst the parent were not working Shock

wonderstuff · 19/10/2012 22:24

I have a friend whose parking strategy is to go to the spaces furthest away from the shops - much easier to find a space and much less likely that someone will park next to you and scratch your car. I'm a fan of the online shop. Bloody hate going to actual shops.

ExitPursuedByAaaaaarGhoul · 19/10/2012 22:25

My Dad used to do that, and then was most upset when someone let a trolley run into his car.

wonderstuff · 19/10/2012 22:25

But when I do go I have an Aygo - so masses of room to get to the boot in any parking space regardless of whether I reverse or drive in. Grin Reversing is easier.

My Dad parked at the far end of the car park - not the P&C spaces.

ShiftyFades · 19/10/2012 22:50

I tend to reverse if I'm doing the "bread, milk & rolls" shop... Then pop the shopping on the back seat. Only drive forward when doing a really big shop, even then I prefer to reverse and use back seat than reverse out and use the boot.

Northernlurkerisbehindyouboo · 20/10/2012 17:08

Hmmmm well I didn't mind reversing out till today when somebody also reversed out at the same time and we had a minor bump. We definately felt it and I got out to check both cars - both fine. The bloke then got out and said he didn't think we had touched. I am sure we did but his very shiny BMW was fine and my beaten up VW was fine so no harm done.

Jusfloatingby · 21/10/2012 16:11

I was up in my local shopping centre today and saw someone driving into the last p&t space. I went up and confronted her. "Have you a toddler with you?" I demanded "Well, no dear" she replied "I'm 85". "Then get out of this space" I told her "there are people who need it more than you". "Oh I don't think so" she retorted as she hobbled off on her two crutches. I mean, people are so totally selfish. Think the world revolves around themselves and their needs and have no consideration for us young mums. Angry.

Sparklingbrook · 21/10/2012 16:25

Um floating you are joking aren't you?

Jusfloatingby · 22/10/2012 12:28

Well, yes sparkling but I kid you not, I saw this type of debate on another forum with posters arguing that an elderly woman who had just had a hip operation and was on crutches was 'quite right' to feel she couldn't park in P&T spaces because they 'weren't for her'. I was totally Shock

aquashiv · 22/10/2012 14:09

Phone the RSPCA!

aquashiv · 22/10/2012 14:09

oops sorry wrong thread

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2012 14:16

Blimey floating people can be vile. Sad

Which thread aquashiv? Confused

TuftyFinch · 22/10/2012 14:21

I just park right outside the doors. There's always loads of space there. I just reverse so my boots practically in the shop. There are two sets of doors so it's not like I'm in anyone's way. That works best for me. Also it saves all that negotiating through the car park with a wobbly wheel. An added bonus is I don't get wet.

TuftyFinch · 22/10/2012 14:22

boot's
A minor point but it matters to me. And Stanley.

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2012 14:22

I just drive round the shop reaching out of the window and chucking it on the back seat. Grin

Xnedra · 22/10/2012 14:39

Justfloatingby That's terrible that the woman felt she shouldn't park in an 'easier' space and worse that others also thought she shouldn't. But I do think that the introduction od a temporary blue badge pass for parking would be helpful for instances such as this. Why isn't there?

TuftyFinch · 22/10/2012 14:42

Sparkling that's pure genius. Why hasn't someone invented a drive through supermarket? Maybe McDonalds could add a grocery section to their 'restaurants'. You could eat a Donalds and do your shopping without getting out of the car.
I'm going to invent it.
