AIBU to think over £1k is a lot for annual fuel?

My DP and I rent a 2 bedroom flat. We work during the day but we I have the heating on at the weekends and evenings, and one of us I have a deep hot bath every night.

Am I being ripped off, is our boiler also heating upstairs' water (as I suspect) or am I just overly self-indulgent to bathe every night?

I was going to say that mine is more but I think that's a lot for a two bedroom flat. Seems high to me.

Sounds about right I'm afraid. I'm in a 2 bed upstairs flat and pay £92 a month

Ours is about that for a 2 bed terrace so same number of rooms

we pay about £450 for combined gas and electric last year in a 2 bed flat in London - all heating cooking ,lighting, we are very careful and dont put the heating on til November, off in March, set at 18 degrees and all our lightbulbs are energy savers. It can be done.

It does seem a lot, when we were in a 2 bed flat it was all electric, no gas, so did work out expensive but in our 4 bed semi we pay £93 / month for both gas & electric. It is a well insulated new build though so not sure how much difference that makes.

Even with the heating on at 30'C day and night, it's still freezing during the winter. It's a very badly insulated flat.

One of the down sides of renting- you are at the landlord's mercy.

I think £1200 is avg annual per household. So it's a little high for a small property, yes.

No heating until Nov wouldn't work here, it was 3 degrees last night and currently 7 degrees outside, the rain means it's warmer tonight.

That sounds like a lot. We pay about £600 a year in a 2 bed terrace and I don't skimp the heating. At least 1 daily bath here, too, as I have two small DCs.

it sounds about right to me, and its about what my brother and sister both pay for there 2 bed places.

mine however is shockingly high so i like to not think about it ever and just pretend its not happening,i compleatly recamend that approach

It totally depends on the property. I'm in a 2 bed and pay £132. And yes, I shop around, a lot. But the place is 200 years old, has single glazed windows, no adjoining neighbours and empty garages with thin doors underneath, so it costs a lot to keep it warm.

If the flat is badly insulated, then £1000 a year (about £83 a month ish) is actually not a crazy amount.

We have just spent £559 on just under 900l of heating oil.

We probably get through a tank and a half a year and have the heating on for a couple of hours in the morning, a couple in the evening. That heats our water too. We are economical with the oil and it 'heats' a 3 bed detached house, but its pretty cold in the winter.

Actually I think that sounds like a lot, but it all depends on your type of boiler and what insulation you have (and I am assuming it is gas CH).

Mine costs £130 a month (£1560 a year) for a tiny 2 bed bungalow. However I am nesh and have my heating on a lot, my single glazing with rotten window frames and a child that has to have his light on all night probably doesn't help either.

I had a letter from npower today telling me about their price increase and they estimate next years annual bill to be about £950 for gas and electric. I work from home dog grooming so have the shower and hair dryers on a lot plus feel the cold so use the central heating everyday and the fire is on from 4-10. I live in a 3 bed semi so yes your bill sounds very expensive.
