To be in tears at the end of Bake Off final?

It's all just so lovely. Really please John won.

I felt, as I'd felt a couple of times over star baker and who was out, that they feel it's not good Tv to just give it to the most obvious.

In previous series it hasn't been so obvious that one person stands above everyone as Brendon did. I think that they felt giving it to Brendon would have just had the "of course" reaction, which doesn't make good TV. Mel and Sue even made comments along the lines of Brendon being top dog.

But I liked John, and it was lovely to see his reaction, and I hope he does well. The finalists were all good.

My df is the master of the smiling putdowns. He thinks it's showing how the family is all gelled together. No one at the other end of it does. He's from down south originally, although we were lived up north. No northerner could touch him at that.
