Should've probably read the description before, but got 1/2 an hour in and have switched off. I'm in tears. Can't shake it off. Has anyone else seen this film?!

I guess my AIBU is about my reaction, am I just being emotional?!

I won't watch having made the mistake of buying his album and listening to the lyrics a lot of which come from the script of the film.

I don't need that in my life.

My adult son bought it and watched it yesterday. He said it was shocking and told me not to watch it.

God I wish I could erase it from my mind. I stuck with it longer than I should have really, was hoping for a turn around. It's awful.

It's a shocking account of gangs in London/drugs/prostitution/violence.

I really hope to god it's not a 'real' account, but then from what I read about maybe it is, maybe that's why I feel so disturbed

I felt like this once before after watching something, and that was the rape seen in this is England... Fucking awful.

Ah I was looking forward to film, I'm a fan of his music and love his Strickland banks album.
I felt the same about the rape scene in this is England, also had same feelings at body chopping and child abuse storylines in holyoaks later.
Maybe best avoided. But I did enjoy kidulthood and that was quite gritty.

I would find it difficult to understand anyone that said they enjoyed this film. Like all the bastards that gave it 5 stars on iTunes. I fail to see how anyone bar a psychopath would feel comfortable watching it.

I thought I was going to throw up at the point I decided to switch off. Is that extreme?

There must be someone that's seen it? Surely I'm not weird for crying so much at a film other than Marley and Me?

I picked it from the 'popular' list on iTunes. I honestly had no idea about it. Will not make that mistake again!

I've felt uncomfortable during lots of films that I would rate 5 stars. The stars don't rate family-friendliness.

My DS has this film on DVD, whats the matter with it?

I imagine its a slightly amped up version of reality will have to watch to judge.

I can watch it and let you know what I think if you like. Although I can't imagine anything particularly awful.

Have you seen similar Plan B films? Kidulthood, Adulthood, Sket, 1234, Harry Brown etc?

In the interests of science I've just sat and watched this in full.

Admittedly I did have to fast forward a bit but only because it was slow, try-hard and relatively plotless. Its very mediocre, at best.

Its set/filmed around the area I live in, or at least thats what I gathered from the estates used and endless shots of the A13. I personally think 85% is realistic for a minority and maybe 70% for a majority. By that I mean that for a large proportion of people in those areas, particularly on those estates, which are copies of the ones I lived in and grew up in, many of the issues will touch their lives, however it will only be in such an intense, involved way for the minority. The majority will have much briefer interactions with maybe a few of those issues, and often its just witnessing them or being offered involvement or knowing someone who is involved. I don't think I'm shocked by anything I've seen or even surprised for that matter.

Its obviously meant to be gritty, and as the description talks about prostitution, gangs and violence I can't really work out what you expected. Obviously those issues aren't nice, so am quite intrigued to find out what were the aspects you found upsetting?

Pretty typical of that genre to show that kind of thing.

Its true to life for a small number of people that are directly involved in such things and as Ruby says, prob lots of people who are indirectly affected by such things.

Cant say it had that much of an effect on me.

I didn't think it was that bad tbh! bit like lock stock.... and snatch, in the way its a serious of far fetched events that intertwine etc.

Far from the worst film ive ever watched.

Op, I'd recommend you stay away from other films mentioned further up thread as I thought sket and 1234 were a lot worse than ill manors!!

Plan b is a very "no holds barred" type of artist in his music and films. Yes, I am a fan as I met him just after the Strickland album launch and I spoke with him about it, he was so sweet and answered all of my inane questioms and not many slebs and musicians do that these days!!

It was the 6 year old having his face cut, the pregnant woman taking smack, the woman being forced to prostitute herself (cut to images of small child and references to sexual abuse). They stand out the most. I've seen Harry Brown and wasn't affected like this.

I've also seen Snatch, Lock Stock and Rock and Rolla.

Maybe it was the more frequent references to children that tipped it over the edge for me.
