To want to go on Mastermind with the specialist subject "Secondary Schools of South London and their Entrance Criteria"

Because I have memorised terabytes of the sodding stuff.

How far in hundredths of a mile is every school within a five mile radius? Which is the only local school whose 5 A*-Cs (incl E&M) has increased despite the English shenanigans? What is a Language Aptitude Test, how does it differ from Verbal Reasoning and how many places at school X are awarded based on it? Which ability band had the widest catchment at Dunraven last year and should I advise DD accordingly when she takes the test? How do the Kingsdale music scholarships work? (that last one was rhetorical, nobody actually knows that).

I wouldn't mind so much, but it's looking increasingly likely that DD will go to a girls' school so we'll have to do it all again in two years time for DS.

Brilliant

I used to say my specialist subject would be school uniforms of North West London as we visited so many.
I then moved onto entry criteria of Britain's universitys. I feel your pain.

BikeRunSki · 12/10/2012 08:29

Mine would be "Prams and pushchairs available to the UK market, 2007-Present".

cubscout · 12/10/2012 10:22

Sharing your pain BoringSchool. Just a different part of the country. Would like to add, furthest distance offered in each of the last 5 years, how to calculate if you have any chance in a single sex lottery system to my specialist knowledge.

QuintessentialShadows · 12/10/2012 10:24

Ok. Your take on St Richard Reynolds please.

Wink

Or is this outside your geographical area?

BoringSchoolChoiceNickname · 12/10/2012 13:26

I know precisely two things about St RR: too far away, and too Catholic. I need to change the scope of my subject to " South London schools blah blah blah except the Catholic and Muslim ones"

Mind you, a quick google suggests that nobody else knows for sure what the entrance criteria for St RR will be either - is it still under appeal?

I challenge & raise you one - mine will be "Admission criteria for statemented children for London Academies". It's a flippin minefield & even the LA's and academies themselves aren't clear on the rules lol!

BoringSchoolChoiceNickname · 12/10/2012 14:06

Ah bochead, that's going to be my subject in two years time - it is the A level to this year's GCSE.
