AIBU to be pissed off at having to remind everyone that it is still only fecking OCTOBER

and that 13 discussion in aibu about Christmas in the last week (in addition to the ones mnhq have moved) is too many. Not to mention that of the 96 threads with Christmas in the title in the last week, more than 45 of them are outside the sodding Christmas topic Hmm. And "Christmas" has appeared in more than 500 posts since the beginning of October.

And I was in my local M&S today, and the entire Christmas stock of cards decorations and sundry tat was set up and squishing the Hallowe'en tat into the aisles.

It's getting ridiculous.

I have the topic hidden, as I do every year (along with most of the board).

And then yesterday I discovered I had clicked on one by mistake through most active, and what's worse I had actually posted on it

I had to have a little lie-down.

TessCowDirect · 10/10/2012 19:12

But MaryZed, you have such a christmassy name.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 19:13

Um Stacey, with the greatest of respect, that's what I said. Go ahead, just do it >>>>>> over there, where I can't see it

YANBU

I have so many hidden threads, it's ludicrous.

Can't they all just fuck off to the Christmas board/topic/whatever it is that I will never visit BECAUSE IT'S ONLY OCTOBER? Angry

In fact that angry face is shit. It's nowhere near as angry as I feel.

missvague · 10/10/2012 19:14

YADNBU. Can we not enjoy a nice bit of autumnalness in peace?

ObiWan · 10/10/2012 19:14

Yes! You do have a Christmassy name.

'Maryz boy child Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Daaaay..' Grin

TantrumsAndBalloons · 10/10/2012 19:16

It's mary zed

Not Mary zee

Please go and be Christmassy in the appropriate place.

Thank you.

Mintyy · 10/10/2012 19:16

There is a serious point to be made in all this you know Mary.

Some people (like us) use Mumsnet correctly.

But many many others do NOT.

This causes untold stress and unpleasantness to be experienced by the Mumsnetters who use the forum according to its rules/conventions.

Some say: why does it matter?

I say: just because it does! like closing your mouth when eating matters.

Tis manners.

colleysmill · 10/10/2012 19:17

I love Christmas :)

But I also love autumn. Especially bonfire night, crispy leaves, conkers, winter duvets .......

I have started my shopping but I don't like to say it outloud :)

picnicbasketcase · 10/10/2012 19:19

Ahh, I see. It's the Christmassy stuff being talked about outside of the correct tinsel covered area they're supposed to be in that's the problem. Fair do's. I agree with that. I have posted on several Xmas threads but I haven't paid that much attention to what topics they'd been put in.

vj32 · 10/10/2012 19:22

When I worked in Asda in about 2002, they had advent calendars out in August. In comparison I think the supermarkets have been fairly restrained this year.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 19:22

ObiWan, You Are In Big Trouble Shock

And exactly what Mintyy said. And by the way, where is Trills, she uses the board correctly too.

Unfortunately, mnhq have slipped vair badly recently [disappointed]

Thanks picnic. When you are as old as I am you will realise that these things matter

OP posts:
ObiWan · 10/10/2012 19:22

I know, but I've always pronounced it 'Marys' in my head, and so it shall remain.

Loads of people probably say my name wrong.

It's actually pronounced 'Bauble'.

Mintyy · 10/10/2012 19:23

Horrified to see all the Christmas cards in Smiths last weekend when I was trying to find a birthday card - which have all now been confined to stuffed shelves at the back of the shop.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 19:24

I had to change my name, special like, because even Bonkey got it wrong. It's terrible [sob]

pumpkinsweetie · 10/10/2012 19:25

Yanbu-wish we could enjoy the autumn first, especially halloween & bonfire night but we are getting christmas shoved down our throats wherever we go!
I love halloween, can't think about crimbo until atleast thats been and goneGrin

IvorHughJackolantern · 10/10/2012 19:26

Grin I knew this was you before I opened it!

YADDDDNBU.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 19:28

I think I'm winning.

Hurray.

OP posts:
OBaubleWan · 10/10/2012 19:29

You won't hear another peep out of me 'til December Zed. Promise Grin.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 19:30

Oh, feck off Grin

At least this thread has cheered me up.

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sorry i don't know what came over me, i sing from September to Jan.

Bunbaker · 10/10/2012 19:39

I'm with you. We don't have many family members left to buy for these days and I prefer to keep Christmas at Christmas - we don't even put the tree up until the week before Christmas.

I'm afraid I don't really enjoy Christmas. It is over hyped and over commercialised and I always get the feeling that everyone else is having a much better time than we are. This year there will just be the three of us on Christmas Day.

greenhill · 10/10/2012 19:41

I'm with you on the Twelfth Night thing too. The C word does not begin on 6th November and end on 26th December ooh, I feel much better for my first use of the G word ever, too.

Since I have had DC I do shop earlier, due to bargain hunting though.

Unfortunately mary you do have a rather, ahem, festive name Grin

NotShortImFunSized · 10/10/2012 19:48

I have to start organising for "that day" early. I have 5dc and a bloody stupidly, mahoosive family. So I'm glad shops start putting their tat out and offers on early.

But YANBU that "that days" threads should be kept in "that days" topic!

It even gets me Angry

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 19:58

Shock at Lola

Exactly, the rest of you.

The thing that gets me is that Christmas is hard for some people, it really is. And when life is tough for me I gravitate here, where I hide topics that have the potential to upset me. People who will struggle at Christmas should be able to do just that Sad
