and that 13 discussion in aibu about Christmas in the last week (in addition to the ones mnhq have moved) is too many. Not to mention that of the 96 threads with Christmas in the title in the last week, more than 45 of them are outside the sodding Christmas topic Hmm. And "Christmas" has appeared in more than 500 posts since the beginning of October.

And I was in my local M&S today, and the entire Christmas stock of cards decorations and sundry tat was set up and squishing the Hallowe'en tat into the aisles.

It's getting ridiculous.

I think if the C word is typed into the thread title it should automatically file itself under C*s topic.

I just knew Olivia would be around ----

Don't you dare encourage her Sirzy Shock

Might I add that I'm frankly disgusted by the inaction of mnhq on the thread-movement front, so second Pscha's suggestion. Sandy has gone right down in my estimation, sadly.

Mary - they (hq) never move threads of their own free will.

You have to report it before one of them will put the tea and biscuits down, get up off the sofa and shuffle over to the control desk (tis like The Starship Enterprise) and have a look.

I have actually been told this by a member of hq just recently in the last week or so.

Oh dear Mary Sad.

Getting back to your op, its always the people who have been planning Christmas since June and putting their tree up on 1st December who then can't wait for Christmas to be over and are "dyeing" to take their tree down on Boxing Day so that they can "have a good hoover right through" imvho.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 18:39

Yes, trees in my house go up the Saturday before, and stay until January 6th, which is quite obviously the only right way to do it Hmm

Our tree can go up from 15th December onwards. Stays til 6th Jan.

I've also seen people say they take their Christmas cards down on Boxing Day! Shock.

Mind you, my mil doesn't even put her Christmas cards up. Just those she receives from her dsons and grandchildren. fraek.

My tree goes up on the 1st December, and comes down by 6pm on the 6th January.

It's always a real tree, and the needles never drop.

This is turning into a lovely Christmassy thread..

YANBU.

I have hidden every single thread with the sodding word Christmas in it.
There were "festive" decorations and sodding mince pies in tesco at the end of September.

So stop bloody going on about Christmas. Let's at least get Halloween and bonfire night out of the way first.

I knew you would agree Tantrums.

Now, wasn't it worth the effort to get here?

I bought some Xmas presents today.

And I like to plan and try and get organized from around now.

However I do agree that the shops have stuff out far too early. Flippin Sainsburys replaced the back to school stuff with the Xmas stuff.

This is our second year back in UK after many years overseas and there was much less commercialism surrounding Xmas as shops didn't really start to put stuff out till around Nov.

And YABU to ever expect summer in Dublin. Unless it is in a song by Bagatelle!

Tree? It decorates the inside of the box in the loft. So do the decs. And the cards are good for writing shopping lists on...

And then we can hide the Christmas topic do everyone's a winner.

Although my list of things I haven't hidden is stupidly short now.

You are all missing the point. You are all welcome to go and organise your own Christmases in January if you like [generous].

Just do it over >>>>> there, in the right place [hopeful]
