a little bit out of context but i watched this morning yesterday and freddie starr looked like a worried man

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2012 11:50

It's in a skip

Sorry for The sun link.

MrsjREwing · 11/10/2012 11:50

The nurse told her story days ago to the Yorkshire post, she did report it at the time to a nurse in charge.

DappyHays · 11/10/2012 11:50

alien I thought exactly the same when I saw the news this morning.

I can fully understand the victims themselves not coming forward but not the adult witnesses.

Abuse was still abuse back in the 60s/70s/80s

DappyHays · 11/10/2012 11:52

Oh it seems she did report it. That's worse.

I hope that when this is investigated the others involved and people who knew and did nothing are brought to book. I've got a sad, sinking feeling that it won't happen though.

MrsjREwing · 11/10/2012 11:55

This info plus much much more was on the three jimmy savile threads since before the ITV show, in chat, please read and the links to see the full extent of the country you live in.

SoleSource · 11/10/2012 13:07

Vile, vile pig.

Mrsjay · 11/10/2012 13:15

did you see the size of the bloody thing and it had his picture all over it and lots of he was a good man verses his family are probably ashamed and don't want it to be vandalised . It was only put up 3 weeks ago

SoleSource · 11/10/2012 13:19

I looked st tbe link on hete to The Sun newspaper.

Phillip Schofield stated on the This Morning programme that the pervert is sitting up at a 45 degree angle, encased in concrete. Just so he can 'see the sea'.

Anybody got a spare road drill?

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2012 13:20

PS said earlier that he hoped JS wasn't resting in peace.

SoleSource · 11/10/2012 13:23

PS is (understandly) aware that he has to be careful about what he says. He/ITV can be sued. Also he has to play devil's advocate. I was not impressed with a feew things he said to the victims of that pervert on an earlier show. Was unecessary and hurtful.

Phacelia · 11/10/2012 13:32

Sparkling, that link is so sad (the quote from the woman working at the school claiming the girls were never abused. How dare she?)

So glad the family have had the respect to remove the headstone, I hope that helps the victims in some small way.

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2012 13:34

ITV News is reporting the things that went on at Stoke Mandeville now. They had to put a warning at the start in case viewers found the details distressing. Sad

MrsjREwing · 11/10/2012 13:55

There should havs been a warning on the mn js threads, very disturbing stuff that later comes out in the press.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 11/10/2012 14:02

I believe he was innapropriate with staff at the hospitals (and I believe he may have been innappropriate with patients, if any come forward I will believe them whole heartedly as I believe the ladies on the TV show). Reason being as a student nurse I was told if I met him to avoid him as much as possible as he was very "touchy feely" with nurses.
That is all I was told, but I never met him whilst at the hospital, and I never spoke to anyone who said they had met him. He never visited our wards during my time there. So it was all just rumours, but I believe there to be a lot of truth in them.

Given his plaque on the building where he lived has been vandalised, I would say his family worried that would happen to his grave. I think they have made the right descion to dispose of it all together. I think a simple name and dates type of grave stone would be more appropriate for all concerned.

Viviennemary · 11/10/2012 14:07

I must say I am totally and absolutely shocked at this evilness (no other word for it) that went on and on for decades.

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2012 14:08

I am with you Vivienne, and it just keeps on coming.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 11/10/2012 14:13

Vivienne I am shocked too about how much went on. Through the TV show I was shouting at the screen "Why did you not report it higher up?!" Especially to those that witnessed it first hand, rumours are one thing (unless you hear the same rumour again and again then I would raise concerns) but seeing it with your own eyes and not reporting it?!

spiderlight · 11/10/2012 14:13

I feel very sorry for his family if they genuinely didn't know about any of this :(

Smellslikecatspee · 11/10/2012 14:51

Isn't that the poiint though, people did report it.

But they were 'little' people and ignored.

Or had worse happen.

monkeysbignuts · 11/10/2012 14:59

I am glad they removed his head stone, so what if he is dead, does that mean he should have a bloody massive head stone praising him left just because he is dead?
I personally think he needs stripping of his knighthood too. These poor children were ignored and called liars! Its disgraceful, how could anyone ignore the pleas of children its beyond me. Much more people have responsibility for the prolonged abused to children just because they turned a blind eye to it.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 11/10/2012 15:01

Not everyone did report it though. One man on the ITV doccumentary said he watched JS go in to the bedroom with a young girl aged about 15 I think he said. He sat in the livingroom and waited till JS came out and then said bye and left. He said nothing as he was only a junior producer. He didn't even try to report it. He could have gone to the police, and not gone through his work if he felt they wouldn't listen.
But he didn't even try.
I know that now a days we have a few options to report that were not there in the 60's, but the police were there back then. Surely the police could not have ignored a full detailed alligation like that?

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2012 15:03

Apparently the knighthood is only for your lifetime and dies with you.

HKat · 11/10/2012 15:08

It's really shocking. He's never been a favourite in our house as my mum was a student nurse at stoke at the time and told anyone who would listen that he was a dirty old letch. He hit on her once but she was very young and new, and he was very powerful and well respected so she didn't report it. Plus he did 'only' inappropriately hit on her, as opposed to actually molesting her - not saying it wasn't bad but I can certainly understand why she didn't kickup a stink. She never knew about him abusing the patients though. But yes, he certainly did have a reputation amongst the nurses.
