When I look at the top of the page and my inbox has a little glowing envelope?

I only ever really PM 2 people (who I knew before joining MN) and I've only ever had nice PMs from other posters.

So why when I see it light up, do I always get that funny little feeling?

You know like when the phone rings after 9pm or there's a knock at the door at an odd time of the day/night? Grin

Am I alone in this? Blush

No

It's like being at school and just waiting for that call to the Head's office. You know it's coming, you just don't know when!

SecretNutellaFix · 06/10/2012 22:21

I get that feeling when my manager says "I just need to ask you something"

WorraLiberty · 06/10/2012 22:21

That's the one Madge Grin

WorraLiberty · 06/10/2012 22:26

wannabedomesticgoddess · 06/10/2012 22:29

I get this when the door knocks unexpectedly. and sometimes I hide and pretend Im not in

But apart from that not really. I must be a goody two shoes.

Yama · 06/10/2012 22:30

As a teenager I used to imagine my parents being told what I had got up to when out. I used to approach home with a mixture of dread and excuses.

Yes, guilty consciences abound.

WorraLiberty · 06/10/2012 22:31

Oh God Yama I can identify with all of that...even the first name thing!

We have caller display on the phones at work and there is a group of people I have regular contact with. But if I get a call from an unknown name or number it does always make me feel a bit guilty - without even knowing what it's about.

steppemum · 06/10/2012 22:41

umm, I have just realised that there is a message icon at the top of the page next to inbox (note to self, look at other parts of site other than active....)

WorraLiberty · 06/10/2012 22:42

steppemum I think I've just broken your inbox virginity

Was it good for you?

OP posts:
EugenesAxe · 06/10/2012 22:44

Maybe... I am usually excited that ANYONE would have the time for me.

SecretNutellaFix - you are so right back when I had a manager. For me though it would be 'Can I have a quick chat with you ?' whilst gesturing to a meeting room - ie. out of the open plan because it's unprofessional to bollock you within 'the space'.

cogitosum · 06/10/2012 22:51

I' never get pms Sad

WhereMyMilk · 06/10/2012 22:52

Worra :o

WorraLiberty · 06/10/2012 22:57

cogito don't say that in front of Milk or she'll jump up in your inbox and scare the crap out of you Shock

I've been forced to open a bottle of wine to get over the shock....

WorraLiberty · 06/10/2012 23:02

I've had some lovely PMs from people I've never really spoken to or don't recognise.

Softlysoftly · 06/10/2012 23:03

Just clicked my inbox

No one loves me :(

I get excited with fb messages/post/ managers requests to "have a word"

Am angelic obviously, and nothing to do with an overinflated ego thinking I can do no wrong, oh no not me Grin

sagelynodding · 06/10/2012 23:03

I do too, despite never really going off on one on a thread :)
Exactly the same feeling as 'Can I have a word at school' or 'I need to talk to you about something' at work Hmm

numbum · 06/10/2012 23:04

Nobody loves me either softly which surprises me because I can be a bitch Grin
