Right, I'm off to bed. Lovely to meet you all. Hope you haven't all ganged up on me by the time I come back!

LDNmummy · 05/10/2012 16:49

Dear me, my grammar is shameful at times Blush

Cross post LDNMummy. What you've described is horrible and shouldn't happen to anyone. I look forward to seeing where this thread is when I wake up in the morning!

TantrumsAndBalloons · 05/10/2012 16:52

I have never in my life seen any new member being told that they shouldn't start a thread because they are new.

And if people contradict themselves on different threads all over mumsnet they are going to get called on it.

If I said I had 7 children and a full time nanny and then 30 seconds later posted I had no children I would expect someone to say "oh hang on a minute you said x on y thread"

Also starting a new thread about being flamed on a thread that's still running is a bit...well, I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I still don't think it's bullying. But this is just my opinion.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 05/10/2012 16:54

But the spelling and grammar thing is a bit off, I think.

LDN - was the traveller poster beeisimo? Because there was a whole bunch of stuff to do with that poster that may not have been on the level, IYKWIM.

I've been here for bloody yonks and only three times have people held grudges against me, that I am conscious of. Naturally, they are all on my miniscule shit list Smile.

I met a mumsnetter the other night who was most excellent, but we'd been having a right old ding-dong on some thread or other a few days previous (she told me, I didn't even know!).

I am sorry some people feel bullied but, honestly, 99% of the time I don't think bullying is the actual correct word for it.

LDNmummy · 05/10/2012 17:04

You aren't directly told not to start threads, its more that if you are new you are treated as a troll or with suspicion. And I am sure it has been mentioned somewhere before that it was 'bad etiquette' but I may be wrong.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 05/10/2012 17:06

I dont think that's strictly true. I don't think it's ever bad etiquette to start a thread if you are new and I don't believe I've ever seen it.

Mind you I havent seen every single thread on here so there's a good possibility I'm wrong Grin

TheLightPassenger · 05/10/2012 17:06

yy usual. or even worse, pull someone up for lack of paras/text speak when the poster seems v distressed.

OhChristFENTON · 05/10/2012 17:07

Mintyy I keep forgetting who you are, or what you're old nn was but I'm sure I liked you.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 05/10/2012 17:07

Isn't the whole 'Are you new?' thing an allusion to the poster maybe not being genuine?

I don't like it myself, I just report if I have suspicions.

Mintyy · 05/10/2012 17:10

Does anyone know if the husband-owes-£2000-to-loan-sharks-what-am-I-going to-do-for-money-thread from this morning was a t r o l l? Its disappeared.

ScrambledSmegs · 05/10/2012 17:16

Has it? Thought it was way down the list in relationships now.

I'm off to have a look!

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 05/10/2012 17:17

Yes, Scrambled

trice · 05/10/2012 17:29

I think the spelling hawks are a bit scary. I usually read it as class war, rightly or wrongly. Although I do know that it causes some people physical pain to see the wrong their in there sentences. (do you see what I did they're?)

ScrambledSmegs · 05/10/2012 17:30

I miss everything.
