To think that the bullying culture on MN can be a bit much....

Having been a member of MN since 2003 I have seen and read some disgusting comments from other members particuarly on this board.

I am starting to think that some of these people must be very sad and insecure.

Some of the names that are called are disgusting and I am sure that these people would never go up to someone in RL and call them that.

And do not get me started on the "I am better than you because I can spell" attitude which seems to be the final insult if all else fails.

Other comments include

"troll" "Oh not another thread" etc.

It is cyber bullying at the end of the day and as mothers shouldn't we all just grow up a bit? The MN team do a great job of deleting such posts but often the OP has seen it and the damage is already done.

I have said piling in happens. I have said that threads go off on a tangent.

But threads going haywire is not IMO bullying and most of my irritation has been against the bullying accusation.

I also haven't read that there is 'only a pack mentality about regulars'. I have read that the 'mn is full of vile bullies' post always ends up being about regulars. And it does.

But being miffed with one poster for being vile (if she was -I don't know what you mean) and extrapolating that. Into the idea that jokes = derailing= bullying and excluding new posters is a bit of a leap isn't it?

And the pm thing is grim.

If I was vile to a vulnerable poster I hope someone would tell me. I hope they would.

Scrambled there's someone near me that seems to buy any old bit of furniture, paint it in Pogeon or Clunge and sell it on fleabay for a million pounds. It's quite annoying because whenever I search drawers in 10 mile radius all her F and Ball shot comes up. Is that bullying?
