Having been a member of MN since 2003 I have seen and read some disgusting comments from other members particuarly on this board.

I am starting to think that some of these people must be very sad and insecure.

Some of the names that are called are disgusting and I am sure that these people would never go up to someone in RL and call them that.

And do not get me started on the "I am better than you because I can spell" attitude which seems to be the final insult if all else fails.

Other comments include

"troll" "Oh not another thread" etc.

It is cyber bullying at the end of the day and as mothers shouldn't we all just grow up a bit? The MN team do a great job of deleting such posts but often the OP has seen it and the damage is already done.

If people are having a little chat on threads, what does it matter? You can choose to a) ignore them and carry on posting what you want to or b) join in. Or c) aubergine. Do what feels most natural to you. As long as it's not harmful or illegal, that is...

Also I talk to names I recognise on threads as much as I do people I don't recognise. Half the time they don't talk back as the thread has moved on (see nearly every single comment I've made on this thread!). Sometimes they respond. Both are fine by me.

On MN I find it best to use as my mantra. It was linked to by someone on MN ages ago and I thought it very apt!

mumtomoley - I think I'm rapidly losing the plot on this thread, but your reference to my needing to write a disclaimer was about your post, no it wasn't.

I was referring to the fact that all too often these days you have to make it plainer than a plain thing on plainsville that something is a joke.

Hence, after I had told Funnys to 'fuck off' I had to post a to make it very clear that it was a joke. Before one of the Po reported me for an attack.

I'm not sure it's bullying. Some people are just bloody rude, whether they are rude in RL or trying to big themselves up on here I'll never know.

I prefer to try and be polite and ignore the quiches. Some posters just pile in and it's bloody intimidating if you aren't aware it happens.

And what edmcdonnagh was saying earlier, unless she retracted everything she said at the start of the thread. No I haven't read it all.

Try to be polite. I try to engage with people who engage with me. Even the cross ones. If there are jokes I join in. If there are not I don't. I have been on silly threads and really upsetting serious threads.
There is room for all.

I am not sure which part of that is wrong.
