to be instantly suspicious when someone calls me to tell me they are going to save me money?

by changing my phone/ insert utility here/ etc.

Or am I really cynical? Actually companies set up huge call centres dedicatd to saving me money...?

YAcertainlyNBU. Or perhaps we're both being unreasonable. Everyone wanting to save me money wants me to make the decision to do what they're suggesting instantly. That's enough to make you cynical.

i ask them how much they would charge go i only pay (half the price they mentioned) see what they say then say i dont do these things on the phone - if i think it was a good deal less than paying look on the internet at t&c's etc etc - i've never changed yet though these 'great deals' only last a matter of weeks then usually cost loads

Well I am not alone Smile I give sales calls short (but polite) shrift tbh - I don't get many and usually they are from my current providers - don't like call centre bods calling me - I call them at my convenience. Nothing personal they are just doing their job but it is rare that I get any truly good deals offered unless I am calling them to say I am leaving the service provider (especially Virgin). Which is enough to make anyone cynical.
