To want to ban the words FIFA 13?

If anyone has a teenage DS, you may understand.

But I swear to almighty Christ if my DS says to me one more time "FIFA 13 is out today" I may have to throw the ps3 out of the window.

Sorry.

Rant over.

Silence? If only! DS will play an actual match, then come home set up Subbuteo and PS3, and the goal in the garden then will alternate between them recreating the match that he played just an hour earlier, all the time expecting me to show interest every fucking time he recreates a great save. Am I wrong to wish that he would sit on it for hours on end?

SoupDragon · 28/09/2012 09:33

It's ultimate and the other one isn't

schoolchauffeur · 28/09/2012 09:33

Yep arriving here to from Amazon today- hopefully! DS home from school on a leave-out this weekend- text at 7.00am today "If it comes before lunch time will you bring it with you to collect me...."- last time I looked there was no XBox in the car!
Fortunately my pain will be shortlived as we are out and about tomorrow doing stuff and he has to go back to school sunday night- where there is no XBOx- yay!!!!!!! So it will be half term before he gets too glued to it!

sugarice · 28/09/2012 09:34

Wisden Football Manager is more tactical, you are the Manager; buying players, team talks, substitutions done in 'real time' if I've got that right Hmm. My eyes glaze over when they start to explain it.

pigsinmud · 28/09/2012 09:34

I don't know. We pre-ordered and then they get a pack (of what I don't know - players?) to download each week for 24 weeks. Not sure if that's what made it ultimate!?

cantspel · 28/09/2012 09:34

I have no idea but i am instrusted to await my email with my all star code to unlock sort sort of extra team thingamajig.
I have my instructions to print off the code but leave the unlocking to him, which i am more than happy to do.

wisden · 28/09/2012 09:35

Maybe that is where I am going wrong, I don't let him play online with others.

No idea with the Ultimate one. Though have to say, if you look at FIFA from a few years ago and compare it to the most recent one then the graphics are better.

cantspel · 28/09/2012 09:39

xbox live is the best way to play as you can play against your friends rather than just the game.
I have 2 teen boys so most evenings all you can hear is one side of conversations going on.

And yes the graphics are really good.
Other teen who is not a fifa fan is awaiting the release of the new Halo. It is already ordered but doesn't come out until the end of nov.

shesariver · 28/09/2012 09:44

You dont get silence as they play online with their mates and all you can hear is the mad ramblings as they yell st each other through their headsets

Its actually rather reassuring to know there are other houses like mine up and down the country!

I thought DS1 would have grown out of this by now, but not judging by the look of disgust he gave me when I said this to him. I had forgotten it was out today because its the first time for years hes not tried to persuaude me or DH to take him to the shop opening at midnight to get it - a yearly occurence along with Call of Duty to. Hes at college today so I can only assume hes getting it himself because when I asked him what he was doing tonight - usually pub I got a "Im staying in and not drinking" because I will have Fifa!! Doesnt matter how old he is, sometimes hes just like an excited wee boy again! Grin

naffedoff · 28/09/2012 09:49

I made DS (12) give me £40 of his birthday money back in July to offset my pre-order of Fifa 13 on Amazon. Hopefully it will arrive today (I did spend a bit extra on the postage too!) and yes, it is the ultimate edition for reasons which are unclear to me but extremely vital to DS. He's beyond excited about receiving it, but I bet all his friends' parents went out at midnight to buy it & they'll have it first!
I personally can't wait for yet more loud chatting/shouting to friends on XBox Live and random talk of oscure footballers and their positions - plus the mandatory replays/recreations of great goals & saves. When I say 'it's not your skill, it's the game that's doing it' - it doesn't go down well!

cantspel · 28/09/2012 09:51

I am truly grateful for fifa and other games.
My son was slacking at school but then really got into gaming. He is thinking about a career in the game industry and knows what grades he needs to get on to the course fe course he would need to do as a first step. Suddenly the grades are going up and at parents evening his teachers have said his whole attitude to learning has changed and is capable of getting the grades if he carries on with his new outlook.

mum11970 · 28/09/2012 09:51

You've just reminded me that I need to go and hunt for FIFA 13 today as well or I'll never hear the end of it. At least I don't have to pay for it as ds1 (14) has saved paper round money, flaming extortionate price.

mcmooncup · 28/09/2012 09:53

"Joe's mum queued up at midnight to get it"

Really, ds.

I fail.

Overreactionoftheweek · 28/09/2012 09:55

You're all complaining about your sons, it's my bloody husband who's been giving me the countdown to the release! I'm meeting him for lunch today and he asked if I was going shopping afterwards - I now realise he just wants to know if I can buy it for him Shock

Although I must confess I love it when the new one comes out as I get some peace then!

Mrsjay · 28/09/2012 09:59

's my bloody husband who's been giving me the countdown to the release!

My husband informed me that the new Call off duty is out soon Hmm

Scholes34 · 28/09/2012 10:00

My DS is banned from starting a sentence with "On Football Manager . . .". He knows I'll say "Do you really think I'm interested?" He's desperate for Fifa 13, but will wait until his birthday in December.

He goes by the name of Statto.

cricketballs · 28/09/2012 10:01

over - my dh is the same about Halo/CoD......very funny one year when a Halo came out, he raced home from work straight onto the xbox only for the disc to have a scratch on it. As he was there close to tears (although he wont admit it!) I did drive to the local supermarket to get another one so he was happy to save my sanity

NetworkGuy · 28/09/2012 10:08

As a grumpy old man, I can only say that the savvy, boring parents who can persuade any teens to wait until after Christmas would save themselves a packet

I don't know what the release day price is, but the cost drops like a stone in the time after. It might be worth trying to persuade them that the cash would buy 2 or 3 games (if you're spending in the 40+ level today [39.00 on Amazon])

Point them at *> the T3 review

sugarice · 28/09/2012 10:09

Scholes same here with my ds. His memory for recalling exceedingly boring football statistics is truly astonishing, where do they store it all?

NetworkGuy · 28/09/2012 10:12

sorry, save themselves / DS a packet (if DS is paying for it themself)

(and on a gender issue, must be some games DDs want on launch?)

ellathefox · 28/09/2012 10:18

My DP is going to buy FIFA later on today. He's been going on about it for weeks. Football Manager has been pre-ordered as well Sad

It's the 'I just won the league!' Celebration I hate. No DP, you did not just win the league... It. Is. Not. Real. Life!!! Angry

QueefLatina · 28/09/2012 10:20

DS has been on about FIFA last night. He asked if I could buy it for him today. I said he had to wait until Christmas.

He replied that EVERYONE was getting it today, they will all be playing on it and will be bored of it by the time he gets it and will be on to something else etc etc.

I told him that he was being daft and that there's no way they'd all be getting a new computer game so close to Christmas.

I was wrong wasn't I? I never realised all these years until I read it on here. I feel a bit shit now actually!

TantrumsAndGoldAndOrange · 28/09/2012 10:21

But they think it is real life. And it because they are such skilled footballers that their team are doing so well.

mayorquimby · 28/09/2012 10:23

it's class tbf. been playing it for a few days and I'm fucking delighted to hear that the OH is going to a friends going away tonight so I'm going to pan out in the sitting room with beer and be a fifa slob for the night.

nokidshere · 28/09/2012 10:27

I was reminded last night and again this morning before school! And thats not counting all the other reminders I have had for the past two months at least!!
