And very rude!

Dsil came round last night and put her bare feet up on my sofa! I cringed....

I have a bit of a thing about feet, can't stand them. Except perfect ones, and preferably baby feet. But hers were disgusting and had loads of dead skin.

Dh thinks I'm nuts, but apart from anything else, when on earth did it become acceptable to do this?

HAHA! How did I miss that!

SrirachaGirl · 27/09/2012 17:50

Socks! Nobody wears shoes in the house here and I would feel rude asking guests to put on slippers. If visitors have bare feet I just cringe and seethe silently and give the floors a stealth mop under cover of darkness after they've left. My issues with feet are so great that I always wear socks when I visit other people's homes.

I have no problem with little, peachy baby feet...just the crusty, stinky, MIL grown-up variety.

I am without a doubt U.

schnauzerfan · 27/09/2012 17:57

I'm with you OP, I hate feet and I think you are DNBU. x

shrinkingnora · 27/09/2012 18:30

I was about to post again and ask what the fuck is the matter with you lot. It was absolutely hilarious. Luckily she just pissed herself laughing. He did it so very carefully maintaining eye contact at all times.

iknowwho · 27/09/2012 18:34

Are you my mum?
She sshouts at us if we go to visit and someone (Usually me) dares to put their feet on the sette to get comfortable.

The other month when we were there DS1 put his feet up and I thought I was going to have to get the smelling salts. She stammed 'Iknowwho!!, Is he allowed to do that at home, what makes him think he can do it here!!?'
I just said of course he can feel comfortable in his own house. He should have known better than to expect that here though!

KenLeeeeeee · 27/09/2012 18:38

shrinkingnora - that is bloody brilliant!

OP - I'm in the YABU camp I'm afraid. Surprised at the number of people who share your foot/sofa aversion tbh.

BananaBubbles · 27/09/2012 18:43

YADNBU. I don't want to see anyone's feet, and certainly not on the furniture.

You do realise, don't you, OP, that people usually put their filthy BOTTOMS on the sofa? OK, they are hopefully not bare bottoms in polite company but nonetheless sweat and bacteria can penetrate porous materials.

There you go, now you have something else to worry about! Grin

Mylittlepuds · 27/09/2012 20:00

I think YABU! It's nice she feels so comfortable in your house I think.

Laquitar · 27/09/2012 20:04

When i read the title i was expecting 100s to agree with you. I didn't know that most people don't mind.

I'm with you and this is one of the reasons i prefer leather sofas.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/09/2012 20:05

Oops, that's me off your guest list then :o

BigFatLegsInWoolyTIghts · 27/09/2012 20:06

Yanbu. My MIL does this...she also plays with things with her bare feet.

Like...there might be a toy on the floor and she'll roll it back and forth with her toes.

LittleFrieda · 27/09/2012 20:11

Yeeeewww.
YANBU.

Lushgreenfields · 27/09/2012 20:15

We're back to bum germs again, I see Grin

LittleFrieda · 27/09/2012 20:16

This thread has made me realise, I'm very conscious that there are those of us with fug ugly feet, and those of us with attractive feet: there is no in-between.

PiedWagtail · 27/09/2012 20:19

YABU. I like when people do that - shows they're relaxed in my house. But I don't have a thing about feet ;-)

PiedWagtail · 27/09/2012 20:21

Also- last time my MIL visited she put her very skanky peely old-lady smelly feet up on our coffee table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shock

ioness · 27/09/2012 20:22

I think i'd be a bit surprised if they'd come round for a coffee. But wouldn't mind because we put our bare feet on sofa.

But if staying the night, I'd feel pleased they felt relaxed.

RuleBritannia · 27/09/2012 20:23

I wouldn't like it if one of my visitors put feet up on my settee but it would be better than a dog's anus.

modifiedmum · 27/09/2012 20:26

LOL if it was a perfect stranger yeah but its your sil! bit harsh! you'll have to do foot inspections at the door pmsl

BananaBubbles · 27/09/2012 20:31

There's no such thing as attractive feet imho,LittleFrieda.

FyFan · 27/09/2012 20:34

YADNBU I can't stand it when people do that but I'm not sure if that's because I have OCD. My DM came to stay with us for a week over summer. She regularly walked around the house and garden in bare feet and then would sit with her feet on the sofa picking off the dead skin and also picking the gunk from under her toe nails. It was absolutely disgusting.

harassedandherbug · 27/09/2012 20:52

nora that is hilarious! However ds is 9months, and not tall enough. Plus he'd probably pee too.......

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who doesn't like feet. I wouldn't feel the same if she'd had socks/tights on. Hmmm not sure if that makes me better or worse?!
