Direwolves, and furs, and winter cloaks. Then start gazing in a steely manner into the distance and accusing royalty of incest...

A Lannister Always Pays His Debts is more of a slogan I think :-)

Lannister, casterly rock, lion, hear me roar.

Stark, winterfell, direwolf, winter is coming.

Tully, Riverrun, leaping fish, family, duty, honour.

Targaryen, 3 headed dragon, dragonstone, fire and blood.

Greyjoy, kraken, pike, we do not sow.

Arryn, don't know, the eyerie, high as honour

Baelish, a titan, the fingers, don't know.

Bolton, flayed man,

I am now getting unreasonably annoyed at the stuff I have forgotten. I should try to get out more.

Not watching it. Doing my crossword. DH can watch girls wearing next-to-nothing if he wants. Load of tosh.

ooh! is Daeny pregnant?! Will the baby be half-dragon?

Fecklessdizzy · 25/09/2012 10:49

Tyrell, Highgarden, rose, Growing strong.

Frey, The Crossing/Big bridge thingy, Two towers, You-have-only-yourself-to-blame-honestly-what-kind-of-a-fuckwit-trusts-a-Frey-Sheesh.

I'm going to get my anorack and hide this thread on the way out as it's making me all desperate for Wolves/winds/whatevers Of Winter and It's Not Coming nearly fast enough! Grin

Ephiny · 25/09/2012 10:49

I think Winterfell would be v. cosy in the winter, with the hot springs and heated walls etc

House Arryn sigil is the eagle, I guess? And the Martells: sun and spear, Sunspear, unbowed, unbent, unbroken.

sashh · 25/09/2012 10:51

OK question for the real geeks - how many know what Hodor's name is?

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 25/09/2012 10:52

A few days ago I would of thought this was madness. Funny this thread should come about just when DH and I started watching game of thrones

Ephiny · 25/09/2012 10:52

'Hodor' is one of the many Walder's, isn't he?

(does that mean he's a Frey?)

aliasjoey · 25/09/2012 10:58

no don't kill Lady!

dammit, how am I suppose to concentrate on my crossword.

PS. everything you guys are writing about makes me very curious to read the books. But I don't want to do so while the series is on..?

PPS. how did I get sucked in to this...

Fecklessdizzy · 25/09/2012 11:00

Hodor is the Anti-Frey.

Do not diss Hodor.

Hodor is fab.

I think he's one of the Winterfell smallfolk, isn't he? I got the impression Old Granny Thing who used to scare Bran witless with stories was something to do with him ...

ILovePonyo · 27/09/2012 20:12

Apologies for the Daily Fail link BUT LOOK! I didn't know Jereome from Robson and Jereome played Bronn Shock I love Bronn. "There's no cure for being a cunt"

Don't tell her!

I vote we stick to what has been broadcast, and the corresponding books...

(Because I have only watched/read two series/books...)

Ephiny · 27/09/2012 21:00

He hasn't killed everyone yet.

I like Jerome/Bronn too, loved that they had him sing Rains of Castamere in series 2 :)

I saw the series first then read the books maryz, they don't copy the books exactly but are similar. I liked an observation on another GoT thread that whenever there is a scene with some important dialogue, they'll usually have some prostitutes getting it on in the background whilst important speech is being made to keep the viewer interested Grin

ILovePonyo · 27/09/2012 21:08

(which doesnt happen in the books usually)

Ephiny · 27/09/2012 21:37

Or they have a character reveal their motivations/thoughts or disclose information to the viewer by having them Explain Stuff to a naked prostitute, in fact they even created a new character (Ros) for this purpose.

I've heard it called 'sexposition' Hmm. It makes me cringe a bit. But otherwise the series is very, very well done IMO.

Stormborn · 27/09/2012 22:19

The sex scenes can be fairly graphic so I'd steer clear of watching it with the teens.

I'm already worrying about my parents wanting to watch the episode that DC will appear in when it airs next year. I just hope they'll be happy with just seeing the relevant scenes.

Stormborn · 27/09/2012 22:21

Also, while I'm here under my nc...would I be unreasonable to boot my direwolf off the bed? He snores and hogs the duvet fur coverlet.

Ephiny · 28/09/2012 10:56

I would certainly not watch it with my parents! There's a lot of nudity, more than there needs to be tbh. We even get to see Hodor's er, hodor...

A Woman listens to the GoT audio books and a Woman enjoys them, a Woman is on book three and is going to be all knowing and annoyingly smug watching the tv series with a Man (DH)
[swipes hand over face and mysteriously changes appearance, leaves with a swirl of her cloak]
