To get the direwolves out?

Direwolves, and furs, and winter cloaks. Then start gazing in a steely manner into the distance and accusing royalty of incest...

I've taken to having second breakfasts in anticipation. I may well reread The Hobbit too, its been far too long. Can't look at LotR again yet, I thoroughly overdosed.

Anyone else unable to get past Seen Bean's O2 adverts?? I was relieved when he lost his head. Blush Sorry Seen.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 24/09/2012 13:21

I am so tempted to change my name to TheBiggestDickheadofWesteros now. It has such a lovely ring to it.

Also loving 'the night is dark and full of spoilers'.

When is it back on, though? I want it to be now!!

ShavingPrimateRyan · 24/09/2012 13:21

The thing I find interesting about the Baratheon brothers is if you merged them all into one person they would make the perfect king:
Robert's bravery, generosity and war expertise
Stannis' level headedness and frugality
Renly's charisma and the empathy he shows for his people

MrsRhettButler · 24/09/2012 13:24

Oh I may just have to read ADWD again now.

I can't believe I'm having to wait! Two more are planned am I right? I need to know how it all ends.

How on earth are you resisting the temptation to rea them all at once op? Grin

elfycat · 24/09/2012 13:26

Sigh..

I have all the books on Kindle but haven't had time to read them (what with the DDs, OU degree (ghastly literature books), work course coursework, trying to be self employed, etc.)

OK, will read the 2 plays for the OU, write the first draft of the essay and then treat myself by reading the WHOLE series.

bbl Wink

ShavingPrimateRyan · 24/09/2012 13:29

MrsRhett there is two more books confirmed but I bet there will be more! The fifth book (ADWD) was meant to be the fourth (AFFC) but Martin decided he needed to bridge the gap.

George RR Martin has even said that he will not rule out more books in the series, this is coming from the man that initially started writing GOT as a trilogy!

MrsRhettButler · 24/09/2012 13:31

I just wish he'd hurry up!

TandB · 24/09/2012 13:34

I might ride around supposedly secretly, but while being entirely recognisable, before kidnapping someone quite important and taking him to my completely unstable sister.

And then I might forget to watch to see what happens next before discovering that they won't be doing reruns until MARCH 2013!

FFS.

mimbleandlittlemy · 24/09/2012 13:34

I hope he has left plenty of notes left in a handy safe Just In Case. I know 64 is still young but at the rate he writes let's hope longevity runs in his family, certainly rather more than it does for many of his characters Grin

BrittaPerry · 24/09/2012 13:43

Elfycat- I am in a brief break between OU courses. I am actually meant to be using it to sort out the house, get my customers all sorted ready for tge Christmas rush, etc. But WINTER IS COMING!

Hot pie.

Nymia · 24/09/2012 13:50

Joffrey is way worse than Theon Greyjoy, IMO.

Theon is a self-important knob, but he's too stupid and acts of out desperation when he gets backed into a corner. Joff is calculatedly cruel and knows what he can get away with. I sometimes felt sorry for Theon, but Joff is unredeemably EVIL.

Have to give credit to Jack Gleeson though, he takes being the most-punchable figure in an extremely popular series in great spirits and is by all accounts a very bright and likeable young man.

The trouble is, Shaving, you could end up with the worst of all worlds too.

Drunken whoring, dodgy religious beliefs and frivolity :)

aldiwhore · 24/09/2012 13:52

mimble I have the same worries!!

I do hope the last book is at least 4 books long as there's many things to tie up, many many many!! If he does it all neatly in one last volume I'm afraid I shall be falling out with him.

Every character (dead or alive) has at least a whole volume left in them.

MarysBeard · 24/09/2012 13:52

Theon is daft and often Wrong rather than evil. He's like a puppy that is fed up of being kicked but bites the wrong person.

MarysBeard · 24/09/2012 13:57

I hope he has left plenty of notes left in a handy safe Just In Case.

I hear he has planned everything just not written it in final form.

elfycat · 24/09/2012 13:58

BrittaPerry You're right, needing to do stuff should not be a bar to reading good books. I will start reading them (almost) immediately.

mimble I also hope he has made plenty of notes. We lost Robert Jordan who knew his time was coming and (bless him, really bless him) spent time with his wife making plans for how to get the series finished. I'd hate for it to happen again (It also happened to David Gemmell just as I'd started reading his books)

aldiwhore · 24/09/2012 14:00

I think Theon is a bit more tha daft to be honest, but not wholly evil... unless he was real, then he'd be evil.

I love the fact that I can forgive certain characters certain things depending on what happens to them next.

Reek's an interesting character too Wink

Nymia · 24/09/2012 14:06

Ugh, Robert Jordan. I read Crossroads of Twilight and wanted to throw the book at something every chapter. I got really fed up that he was wasting his precious time on this earth with all his characters tossing their braids and stamping their little feet and saying things like "Men!" with an eye-roll, or "Women! Who'd have them?" with a wry grin every bloody five minutes .

Thank God for Brandon Sanderson. If you haven't read the Mistborn books, then you should.

Xnedra · 24/09/2012 14:08

Theon makes me want to wash.
Tywin Lannister is more evil than his grandson by miles.

MarysBeard · 24/09/2012 14:15

Theon makes me want to wash

Yup.

Serendipity30 · 24/09/2012 15:11

I am a Lanister and we always repay our debts humph!!

Fecklessdizzy · 24/09/2012 16:33

I meant to read them along with the TV series but got carried away and now I've run out and if the bugger dies before he clears up what's just happened to Jon Snow I shall probably burst from sheer annoyance! Angry

Worst of the worst-wise, you can't go wrong hating the Freys Wink 'Nuff said ...

aldiwhore · 24/09/2012 17:45

Absolutely Facklessdizzy... plus they're all ugly, which helps Smile

I'd rather like a castle built over hot springs right now... doesn't even have to be a 'castle' really, just a house with free central heating would be lovely.

dawntigga · 24/09/2012 17:46

Winter is indeed coming and I think that some young blond boy deserves a slap at the very least.
